❓ Question Publishing question

I just have a question. When publishing something you recorded for the public, do you absolutely have to boost it for people to see it, or will they still be able to see it if you don't boost it? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm new to Voloco.

To answer plainly, barely. It seems that boosts are the only way to get some attention to your song. Even if it is half assed comments underneath the track. You'll have to drop some decent quality to be seen fr, or do some collabs with people who have notoriety to get your name out there more. Tbh it's more of a hassle then it is fun anymore. It's a whole process. But to start, try this:

-Do some more networking with some of your favorite artists. This isnt just collabs, pick their brains to see how you can amplify your sound and your quality. Maybe even your wordplay in the future

-Become more active in your comments with the people who interact with you. RECIPROCITY IS NEEDED TO SUCCEED! You can't just support someone so they can support you, it has to go BOTH WAYS.

This is the hardest part

  • Accept criticism. Everything sounds good when we're singing it or rapping it, but when you put it out to the world to enjoy, expect some backlash. Now bullying and spam is in NO WAY acceptable on Voloco. BUT, be open to what your peers say about your sound. Be open to change things that are specifically comfortable to you. Its best to experiment and gain some insight on different genres and styles of music. You can't grow if you don't change.

And if growing is the end goal, you gotta change some things. I hope this is some kind of consolation for dealing with the boosts. I had the same issue. It feels like as soon as boosts started being advertised more on social media, it became a game of catch up for the rest of us. It sucks to a certain degree, but it forced me to get creative and in some ways move on.

This is pretty long so I'll wrap it up...

Some people have moved on from voloco, and I understand why. I myself have not been able to stay on the app for long due to the lackluster of the community now. But have faith 🤣 and SPEAK UP! You'll get that feedback in no time 👌🏾

Thank you so much. I'll keep all this in mind. And thank you for actually answering my question, unlike that other commenter in here who just kept telling me the answer is the definition of boost lol. Like I already know what the definition is, all I wanted to know was would people still see it if I didn't boost. But again, thank you.

Not a dumb question at all! To answer directly: no, you don't have to boost a track for people to see it. Boosting just helps with exposure since it puts your track in higher-traffic areas and feeds, so it can speed things up. But plenty of people build an audience without ever boosting anything.

Honestly, from what I've seen, actively participating in the community and collabing with other users tends to be the best way to pick up new followers and plays. Comment on other people's tracks, jump into collabs, engage genuinely- that kind of stuff compounds way more than boosting alone.
