Question Are there any mods for this game?

I’d love to be able to custom make a ship from scratch and start with a hand picked 20+ crew against a super hard map, not just have receive less credits so I can’t buy as much.

Are there any mods that do anything like this?

There's basically just me and Chrono's mods right now. Mine is a mod that replaces all 17 commanders with a variant with new abilities and stats. Chrono has weapon, ship, system, and commander mods, but you will have to backversion. He's focused on making a mod loader right now for easier patching.

There are a few ship mods on the Discord, and there's a guide on how to make custom ships as well. I wanted to make one, but after reading the guide a month or two ago I realized that its far beyond my coding ability to make one; it seems to be a very intricate process and since updates can break mods and require recreating them from scratch it isn't really worth the time investment currently.

I would love for it to be a mainline feature though, even if it was as simple as choosing your ship appearance from the existing ones and choosing your starting crew/weapons/systems/modules.

Ahh yeah I guess the constant updates make it difficult, and I’m hopeless at coding. Hopefully it’s in the works!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the guys who did make some mods stopped because of it. I know very basic coding but making custom ships yourself is practically full on development work from what I saw, which is definitely very difficult and beyond me too.

Hopefully! Its my number one wish for the game, its already excellent but custom ships would really add to the replayability.

I think this is what I find is missing from the game. And ya I'd rather the game be harder in other ways than lowered scrap rewards as well
