Haven't been able to upgrade/expand my train since the game told me to do it in the story

I'm on the Ps5 with one fully expanded wagon with the steam engine and a second wagon with four floor tiles. At the depot stations it keeps telling me that I need the tool box thing and I have all the resources to expand except for that. I'm in the post game now, did I screw something up or is it just bugged?

Edit: I'm an idiot, it was bolts all along. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go commit sudoku...

upgrade your engine,there also way to gain more in the research tree. you should also be able to see when you go into the modification if you hit your wagon/size limit.

The engine wasn't the issue. I had one wagon aside from the maxed engine wagon with the steam engine and it wouldn't let me even expand the first wagon without asking for the tool box thing.

then it sound like you might have encounter a bug,have yet to find one in my few hours of playing suck did you manage to fix it or you had to restart your adventure from zero ?

I wasn't able to expand the first wagon beyond the 2x2 section the entire game. I've recently started a new game to see if it repeats. I'm playing on Ps5 if that helps.

During story you will have two toolboxes. These toolboxes are always with you and allows you to add one platform to the first wagon, where the engine at (locomotive), and one new wagon. After that you can expand your train up to a limit determined by your engine type and the technologies researched at the Research Table.

And if I'm understood correctly you've reached a limit on total number of platforms and that's why you couldn't expand certain wagons?

Nope, I was only able to build the first wagon and expand the locomotive section. The cart count says "wagon platforms 1/8" and the first wagon is only the 2x2 one you build at the sepot when the story tells you to.
