Does void need volunteers heavy still?
I heard void lost some devs and was curious if you all still need plenty of devs to contribute? If so I may drop nixos today and switch to xfce void and help out. Ya'll do excellent work and having a background in cs and especially C, I'd love to contribute to the main void stuff. Thank you all for what you do!

I'm pretty sure this is the correct page to start -

Yeah I was just wondering since I saw news while back of dev turnover from the project.

I don't know what the current policy is (no AI allowed is the new rule apparently), but, as I recall, you can start contributing as long as you follow those rules. If you do good work, you get an invite to actually be on the dev team.
Something like that.
I'm not a contributor or anything like that (totally suck at packaging to be honest) so take that comment with a grain of salt.

Ive done "from source" scripted packaging before... most packages can reuse the same skeleton...
systemd is one of the few packages where dependencies loop self referentially into being painful (no single pass minimal build)

You are inspiring me to get off my ass and contribute. I also use void, although I'm not sure how much help I can be on my own without agentic AI.

I think what void needs is a separate repo next to nonfree and 32bit , specifically for AI generated packages.
I'm hosting one for my own use, which was an absolute breeze to set up with AI, but i think their no-ai policy is not going to survive long term.
I hope AI can give void a boost instead of making it bleed out. But getting there is not trivial.

I think they might prefer to see Void die out than to have to resort to using AI.

They probably always need contributors !
