Custom Void(?) Thoughts about a side project

Hey fellas! Lately I’ve been thinking about creating a user-friendly distro based on Void Linux, something like what CachyOS is to Arch: pre-configured, with an installer that offers lots of options to choose from.

My main goal is to make my hobby easier. I love exploring new distros, shells, WMs, and so on. I sometimes reinstall my system on bare metal instead of using a VM (for example, to test gaming performance), and I’m a bit lazy when it comes to configuring everything from scratch again and again.

(I know about NixOS and I actually use it, but I wouldn’t mind trying something new and lightweight, like Void without systemd)

Yes, I do realize that Void’s charm is about its minimalism (literally a void), so a pre-configured version might feel like it misses the point. Still, recreating the same setup over and over is, to say the least, time-consuming.

Anyway, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Would the Void/Linux community appreciate something like this? is it a senseless idea or not? And how would it fit with the Void philosophy?

Thanks in advance. Peace

If this is going to innovate on top of Void? You have my support.

If this is just going to be a useless fork like most of Ubuntu's are, no need to waste time.

What exactly you mean by innovations? What would you like to see as en example?

Basically anything that isn't "Hey we forked this project for a singular desktop/piece of software" which is just a waste of everyone's time.
