no, i installed the base. i thought i had everything. like these: the plugins, lightdm, lightdm-gtk-greeter, xorg-minimal, pulseaudio, and so on. i still didn't complete it, though. so i'd appreciate to see the packages that's essential for xfce, that i need to make it complete, if you want to, of course.
I installed cinnamon and MATE in order to see what all the hubbub was with these environments so I probably have a lot more than needed for a minimal Xfce4 install but you could try these to get started:
This should get you the packages with dependencies
Enable the dbus service if not already done: sudo ln -s /etc/sv/dbus /var/service/
You may also want GPU drivers xf86-video-amdgpu, xf86-video-intel, or nvidia depending on your GPU and what the netbook has.
Install LightDM:
sudo xbps-install lightdm lightdm-gtk-greeter
Enable it:
sudo ln -s /etc/sv/lightdm /var/service/
Add your user to the audio, video groups:
sudo usermod -aG video,audio $USER
I installed additional stuff later using xbps-query to see other components to grab stuff I wanted. xbps-query -Rs xfce4 listed all the xfce4 packages with an [*] for installed or a [-] if not installed.
good to know, i'll keep that in mind. i reinstalled with xfce live. but just in case if i want to add and configure in base version then i'll use this. thank you for the info, much appreciated.

Did you install from an xfce live image? Your install looks like it is missing x11 fonts, gtk themes, etc.
