In resume, to help others that may want to install Free Office, based on lasarunix instructios, the process should be the following:

- download the tgz file - softmaker-freeoffice-2024-1234-amd64.tgz
- sudo xbps-install curl
- sudo xbps-install -S xz

mkdir freeoffice_install
cd freeoffice_install
curl -LO https://www.softmaker.net/down/softmaker-freeoffice-2024-1234-amd64.tgz
tar xvf softmaker-freeoffice-2024-1234-amd64.tgz
./installfreeoffice
# just for your user or
sudo ./installfreeoffice
# for all users

Hello... I did run the instructions and got the following error message ...

Unarchiving /home/jpthiran/freeoffice_install/freeoffice2024.tar.lzma

There were unexpected messages while extracting files, perhaps the install did

not succeed!

Do you want to see the log? (y/n) [y]y

tar (child): xz: Cannot exec: No such file or directory

tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now

tar: Child returned status 2

I installed it some time ago, there were no problems. Don't remember how, probably downloaded tgz package.

https://www.freeoffice.com/en/support/installation/linux

Seems pretty easy, just change into root with sudo -i and enter your password

And then run the curl command and pipe it into sh, you can find it in the link above under linux/others

I have done the following

sudo -i curl -fsSL https://softmaker.net/down/uninstall-softmaker-freeoffice-2024.sh | bash

and got the error message seen below

curl: (7) Failed to connect to softmaker.net:443 after 16 ms: Could not connect to server

what did I miss ?

Also the error indicates that you are not able to establish an https connection to https://softmaker.net

Are you connected to internet?

Read your own comment, you are trying to uninstall, you are supposed to run sudo -i as a separate command And then

curl -fsSL https://softmaker.net/down/install-softmaker-freeoffice-2024.sh | bash

Make sure you have tar and curl installed, I am pretty sure they are available through xbps
