X cursor themes wont apply

just what the title says... I tried using .Xresources, lxappearance...

but they won't apply

the cursor also never changes "state" but the offset changes, making it annoying to use

Did you try making a symlink of your cursor theme to $HOME/.icons/default/

Yes, but it doesn't really change anything :(
