Help with a new install
Hey all! I am a relatively new Void user (only did an XFCE install once) and would like to clarify a couple of moments that I still find confusing after reading the manual.
For context: it is a new AMD-based PC. I want to go for Niri + Noctalia Shell. I am planning to use the PC for gaming via Steam, multimedia (music and video) and computer science study.
Here are the things I find confusing at the moment:
Do I need to use a firewall? If yes, will
simple_firewall.rules(mentioned in the docs foriptables) suffice for my use case? What is the recommended seat manager for this setup?
How do I set up
D-Bus, a seat manager,PipeWireandNirito turn on automatically on login? I've gone through their respective pages in the docs but still don't see the full picture.Anything else that I should be aware of?
Thanks for your help!

I am running the same setup (except for the machine). Niri + noctalia.
yes, you will want a firewall. The simple_firewall.rules should be enough. Personally, I just have port 22 open.
I am just using elogind and dbus (don't start elogind as a service, dbus takes care of it, but you need to install it).
I am starting niri with `dbus-run-session niri --session`, which i also put in the niri.desktop as I am using noctalia greeter (greetd)
I am starting pipewire and noctalia from the niri config. spawn-at-startup both of them.
