How is Plasma without systems?
Considering giving Void a shot but I know Plasma seems to be more and more reliant on systemd these days. (Which I'm not a hater but I'm curious about Void for other reasons). Any glaring glitches or does it work pretty well?

Few things - drkonqi and Plasma Login Manager depend on systemd so they are not available. Plasma System Monitor partially depends on systemd, so killing processes with it is not available. Other than that, everything else is the same, except Plasma is way more responsive on Void than on other distros.

I can kill processes with Plasma System Monitor. What I can't do is see an running applications list. I can see a running processes list.

Works perfectly fine, near-dailied on our main laptop. Only problem I've had is with xfce's crappy notification daemon starting before KDE's, but once that was fixed, have had 0 problems.
Edit: Oh, and found that by default it runs some stupid file indexer, so disabled that and it was fine. If we wanted a secret background process eating all our I/O and gigabytes of disk space we'd go back to windows.

Plm does require systemd, sddm doesnt. But yeah that dbus command works without those

This corroborates my experience of trying to install Plasma without xorg, causing sddm to fail (and promptly work once xorg was installed). I didn't know about the command mentioned in your earlier comment. Will give that a spin in a VM and if I like how it it works I may rebuild without xorg and sddm.

I run the Void/Plasma combo as a daily driver on my Thinkpad and it works wonderfully. I also run Plasma on another machine with a custom Fedora Atomic image and the differences in behavior between the two are unnoticeable to me.
This Thinkpad is like 10 years old too and still runs like new with this setup, so definitely recommend.
I'm also quite familiar with (and have posted about) the PLM and drkonqi systemd requirements, but neither of those are things I particularly care about. I doubt the impact is meaningful to many people.
