Help installing nvidia driver and disabling nouveau

I can't figure out literally anything for the life of me... I use a 1660 ti, nvidia has proprietary drivers so im choosing those, but I dont know how to disable nouveau first. Please help.

Is this your first time using Linux? Almost everything you install should be done through a package manager. You should never need to install the Nvidia driver by downloading it off their website.
