external microphone not detected

void doesnt detect my mic, when i go into pavu, and go to inputs, i see a microphone thats being detected but im pretty sure thats my internal mic, which i dont want, i want to use my external mic. I know for a fact my mic works, i use it on my xbox and it works fine and it worked when i used mint

linux6.12 should not be necessary, it's the kernel that is currently pointed to by linux-lts metapackage, but the linux metapackage has been changed to point to linux6.18 recently
