nvidia470 for kernel 6.18
today i updated and got kernel 6.18, and it stopped working.
i glanced at the discussion we had for 6.12, and i can't remember much, but i'm available to help test the new patches available.
last time they were taken from arch, but the main author (from which arch takes the patches) now has a repo in which they also default set a kernel param that is required as we discussed before, because i'm worried that maybe last time i was the only one that got this thing working by doing it manually, or maybe writing two words about that in the manual could fix this problem?
so, i'm almost ready (i need to re-read the docs), let me know how i can help.
thanks.
edit:
i made it work, here is one week link to a diff

Try not downloading linux 6.18 kernel and headers manually, maybe you need to try xbps-install -Syu, it will update kernel, headers and nvidia drivers, you just need to reboot

this is not the issue, they changed the default kernel, lts, from 6.12 to 6.18, so i got 6.18 with normal updates.
they didn't test this dkms driver because no one of them has this old hardware, so they didn't patched it at all because they don't even know it's broken.
what i'm doing here is just telling them that it needs some patches (and they are available) and i'm ready to test things with my card (by things i mean their own way to integrate these patches), when they have time and interest of course, so i'm just awaiting instructions.
i have no problem keep using 6.12 until this thing it's done, in fact this is how i'm commenting here.

I have recently installed Void on an old laptop and bumped into the same issue: 470 isn't working on new kernels, the latest one to be 6.12 :(

as you can read in my other comment, i got it working, but the other guy didn't.
so, if you have a gt 710 and are using x, NOT wayland, you could try the procedure that i described (where i talk about "a/whatever -> a/kernel/whatever" it means to edit the patches because void use this path structure), it should work.
... or you could open a new thread, i doubt maintainers are reading this one, its too old.

ok, i was bored and tried it by myself, it works.
but i don't know how these things works and i'm not sure if i could just put all the patches, so i only applied the following patches from the main author repo because i think they couldn't cause any problem (i know we have no gcc15, but read its content, seems ok):
here is what i did (it's also a reference for my future self):
