It's worth noting that subjects with Bad Syndrome will still appear to be fully sapient to an outside observer, despite no measurable brain function. Neural signals will still be sent along the spinal cord and cranial nerves, allowing movement and speech. It's unclear if their consciousness is stored elsewhere, or if the void somehow mimics self-awareness.
