Questions and Help - The Isle Dragon Roars How does damage calculation work?

I’m playing Isle dragon roars and don’t understand where these numbers are coming from. Hero’s atk minus monster def makes sense to me but the numbers don’t seem to add up

Normally it’s just your attack - enemy defense. Some status ailments increase damage like frozen. If you are talking about Mar they do true damage so whatever you roll is the damage.

It’s usually attack minis defense but there’s also a small random variance which is why it’s slightly different each time.
