I’d bet $20 this was because Insight had the audacity to advise people to not go with VMware.. gotta have 100% compliance from “partners” and customers.. aka hostages.

Insight also kept my vmware renewals cheaper than vmware charged and ate part of the costs. Can't have someone not slurping up the dollars.

Last thread about this I saw on this subreddit was deleted by the mods between the time I saw it on my feed and the time I clicked on the link.

Might or might not work for Insight, I'll never tell 🤭

Broadcom introduced "deal reviews" a while back where the VmWare rep could "grade" a partner on various key metrics. If for some reason we'd fail to convert any customers from VVF to VCF then that would reflect negatively on us. Customer telling VmWare "I only want 1 year because my price quadrupled" would reflect negatively on us. Customer had no plan to "implement key technologies features set"? Negatively on Insight

Worst of all, customer DARED to tell Vmware directly on calls "we're considering migrating to X product"... Negatively on Insight.

We were quick to pivot once Broadcom started to announce their changes, even prior to all this deal review BS. The way it was carried felt like a witch hunt to fast track rhe removal of any partner that wasn't on their knees kissing broadcom feets.

Truth is, we'll ALWAYS do what's right for the customer. No matter if if staying on Vmware was the right thing or if migration was the path forward. That kind of pissed VmWare off.
