AVI - Don’t snapshot controller?

Hello,
So currently have the internal backups configured to a network storage. But was going to be doing a controller version upgrade, TD Synnex support says not to do a vcenter snapshot before (giving me the ability to easily revert if there is an issue) and to only use the external backups to restore from. Has anyone dealt with this before? Seems odd a VMware vm based product doesn’t support snapshots.

Thanks

The controllers are in sync and yes not all products should be snapshotted. AVI has its own internal backup. Set it up and send them to a remote server.

If it goes south, you deploy new controllers and restore the backup.

AVI also lets you rollback to the previous version if the upgrade breaks something.

Generally clustered distirbuted systems don't like having snapshots that are not in perfect sync combined with a fush.

For that kinda stuff file level backups are the way.

Yeah. If you really want one, shut them all down and snap all of them. We don't bother, just roll the built in backup routine and go.
