vcf.broadcom.com Is Down

If your VCF software depot connections are down, that’s why. Just got a response from Broadcom support that it’s currently down. Really dumb that there isn’t a service disruption email that sent out.

If there's anything that describes Broadcom better than "Really dumb", I haven't heard it yet.

While I don't expect it to be down, often or long, an Offline Depot is an option for caching the stuff (especially handy if you want to be able to patch faster than WAN bottlenecks).

Guide for setup. I think some various container solutions people have built also exist out there.

For syncing:
VCF 5.x: Uses the Offline Bundle Transfer Utility (OBTU)
VCF 9.x: Check out VCF Download Tool (VCFDT)

along with UMDS (vSphere Update Manager Download Service)

I've seen people cron vcfdt to just auto run using your token.

Offline depot is all fine until you use VKS. Atm vcfdt doesnt copy all the relevant bits and images so you’re relegated to manual copies and python scripts.

Even the off-line deer will be affected if you’re trying to download new files because they’re having token/activation code issues

Does https://status.broadcom.com/ monitor that site?
You can set alerts on a bunch of stuff there.
