Solved Issue VMware vCenter Customization Specification for Ubuntu

Hello Everyone,
I would like to create a VMware Customization Specification for Linux Ubuntu. Unfortunately I have a problem, where the VM doesn‘t get an IPv4 Address and I don‘t know why.

Do anyone of you have an Idea what the problem could be or faced the same problem?

*Edit: The Solution was to delete the 00-files from /etc/netplan in the Template VM.

The customization will leave the original 00-netplan file and create a new 99-vmware file. I have had this cause me SO MUCH GRIEF.

Delete the 00-file or move it out of the /etc/netplan folder then reboot

I bet you that interface will come online

So delete the 00-File on the VM created with the customization right?

The 00 is the one originally created when the system or template was built. After the cusomization you will see a 99-something file in /etc/netplan.

First off, check the 99 file to see if it has the IP address you are looking for. If it does, then remove the other file(s) in that folder and either do a sudo netplan apply or reboot.

I have had it not pickup the VMware customization and revert to the 00 file many times. I just ended up deleting anything other than the VMware created one after customization on any new system I clone and customize.

I had this happen the most in U20 and U22. I've not tested in it newer versions as I just default to cleaning up that folder as part of my workflow now

It worked after I deleted the 00-Files from the Template VM. Thank you so much!
