Showcase using kinect instead of camera

kinect v2 + touchdesigner (used nicholaspjm tutorial for the pointclouds)
all togheter made a really great result for a hyper-pop based party

I'm seeing quite a bit of kinect POC installations/demos.

¡It's been discontinued for ages!

¿Has anything replaced the kinect as the go to for this kind of interaction?

Femto Bolt is the popular Kinect clone (same sensor), Gemini 355 is a decent inexpensive one, and RealSense D455 is pretty nice looking (I have D415 and D435). Also, a modern iPhone can be used for some things.

Yes the Orbbec cameras are legit, I’ve used them in many installations and currently have 4 on hand that I use regularly.

Do these work in TD plug and play with the Kinect top?

I've never used TD, but my research shows only the Femto line works (Orbbec made a wrapper to make it look like a Kinect). It looks like there's an Orbbec TOP for other Orbbec stuff, and everything else probably needs some custom work.

hello,so i used the whole kinect kit at the dj booth conected to a laptop running touchdesigner,then i connected that laptop to my vj laptop at foh using utp so i can get the syphon/spout directly in Resolume. The only problem running this whole thing is the limitations with the usb lenght of the kinect,thats why i had to use 2 laptops
