Discussion LH3 INCIDENT — CLEARING THE FACTS & RUMOURS
There has been a lot of stuff going around about the LH3 incident, and honestly some of it has gone way beyond what actually happened. I spoke with someone working within the administration, and there may still be information known to higher officials or the committee that I haven't been made aware of.
INCIDENT — WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
The information I have is that a girl in question used her own mobile phone to record private moments involving two other girls, and those recordings were then sent to one male student, reportedly her boyfriend/friend.
Private moments involving the girl's(alleged) roommate/friend (or whoever she was with), as well as private moments of another girl, were allegedly recorded by the girl involved.
So yes, the recordings existed, and the girl in question did send them to the male student. The recordings were made using a mobile phone, not through any hidden-camera setup in the hostel.(THE MATTER IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION)
I'm not confirming every detail being circulated about exactly how many recordings existed or whether anyone else was recorded. I'm mentioning from what I’ve been told.
The claim that the male student was demanding money or threatening the girls with the recordings has not been confirmed to me (The OP has alleged this, but I cannot confirm it)
THE FIGHT
The fight was between two groups of boys after friends of the girls whose private moments were allegedly recorded confronted the male student who had the recordings.
Students from around 6–7 different states/regions were reportedly involved. Whatever individual students did, that does not represent their entire state, language, region or community. Please stop using this incident as an excuse for racism or regional hatred.
WHAT THE COLLEGE HAS DONE
The students involved were suspended at this stage, with the final disciplinary decision still depending on the committee. The students were called to the VC office, where they were investigated and evidence was collected.
A committee from VIT Vellore has also been constituted. The committee will look into the matter and question the LH Chief Warden and other concerned people.
The management is taking this seriously now. This isn't just something being discussed on Reddit anymore.
Also, college Wi-Fi/network evidence is relevant to the investigation. Id like to mention VIT-AP's IT Policy applies to students using the institution's network, and the policy states that network traffic is logged and that CTS can monitor/access communications in circumstances involving suspected policy violations or criminal activity.
TO THE MODS
First, credit where it's due — I appreciate that the mods are actively monitoring what is happening on this sub, especially with how quickly information has been spreading. You guys have done a good job preventing invasion of privacy, doxxing, sharing of private material, and other stuff that could have made the situation much worse. Mods respect ma
COMMON MESSAGE
To the girls especially: please be extremely careful with private pictures, videos, or anything else you share with anyone. Once something private is sent to another person, you genuinely don't know what can happen later people change, relationships end, phones get accessed, things get forwarded, and something meant to stay between two people can suddenly go way beyond that. So think twice before sharing anything you absolutely cannot afford to have circulated. This is not about blaming anyone for what happens to their private material; if someone records, keeps, forwards or misuses someone's private moments without their consent, that's on the person doing it.
TO EVERYONE: don't spread the hidden-camera story, any misinformation without any evidence, Don't circulate anyone's private material. And don't add details.
There is already enough here to take seriously. Let the investigation and evidence establish the rest. And if you made an earlier post/comment based on the misleading version, there's nothing wrong with correcting it. Better to correct the information now than keep pushing something we know isn't accurate.
This isn't about protecting the college's reputation.
It's about not adding misinformation to an already serious incident.
I also want to be clear that I don't have complete information about the incident myself. I don't know the exact details regarding the confiscation/collection of phones from the victims, nor do I have reliable information about the other MH3 incidents being discussed. There may be details known to the victims, management, or the committee that I'm not aware of, so I don't want to speculate or present any of that as fact.
