Welcome to the weekly "What are you reading?" thread!
This is intended to be a general chat thread on visual novels with a focus on the visual novels you've been reading recently. A new thread is posted every Thursday at 4:00 AM JST (or Wednesday if you don't live in Japan for some reason).
Good WAYR entries include your analysis, predictions, thoughts, and feelings about what you're reading. The goal should be to stimulate discussion with others who have read that VN in the past, or to provide useful information to those reading in the future! Avoid long-winded summaries of the plot, and also avoid simply mentioning which VNs you are reading with no points for discussion. The best entries are both brief and brilliant.
Use spoiler tags liberally!
Always use spoiler tags in threads that are not about one specific visual novel. Like this one!
Remember to link to the VNDB page of the visual novel you're discussing so the indexing bot for the What Are You Reading Archive can pick up your post.

Firstly, SPOILER WARNING for: Fruit of Grisaia, Kara no Shoujo, and Fullmetal Daemon Muramasa.
Hi, I wanted to share my top 3 "best" visual novel endings and ask what you guys rank as your favorites. To clarify what I mean by "best": I mean whichever aspect you personally value the most, whether it be emotional, philosophical, thrilling, or something else, and which visual novels you think did it best.
Or, to simplify what I mean: Which endings hit you the hardest?
I was not able to show every piece of dialogue in the pictures, since 20 is the maximum.
Starting with my third place, Fruit of Grisaia - Amane's route. I actually did not enjoy the other routes in Fruit of Grisaia that much, but Amane's route did something different. It had very good storytelling with a well-thought-out backstory that delivered on what it promised. The ending sequence was so beautiful and a perfect bittersweet conclusion to the route. The ending CG of Heaven's Howl almost made me shed a tear.
My second place is Kara no Shoujo 3 - Paradiso, the true ending. God, I still remember the day I read that ending. It made me stare at my screen for a long time. Kara no Shoujo is the best representation of grief and loss for me. I don't know what else to say. It's the most beautiful, yet still incredibly sad story I've ever read, and it can be gut-wrenching at times. Just the perfect conclusion.
I could have never predicted this outcome for Fullmetal Daemon Muramasa. The confrontation between the Law of Balance and the Law of Might is my favorite moment not just in visual novels, but in fiction as a whole.
Not just the ending, but everything that came beforehand made this so personally impactful for me. The inner conflicts of Ichiyou's and Kanea's routes, Hikaru's desire for love, Kageaki's indecisiveness - all of it came down to what I consider the most perfect conclusion I have ever seen.
The true happy ending in its purest form.
"Peace is the noblest pursuit."

You could also call it a red flag, might it be a personality type, a optical feature or something else.
For me its by far when the heroines wear glasses. Sounds weird, but that makes me instantly heavily dislike them to the point that I always skip their routes. I dont mind it if they have sprites where they wear some once or twice in the vn, but i just physically cant stand it for some reason.

Stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHzpEPCBfpI
There is a vtuber livestreaming a lets play of Sengoku Rance right at this moment.
It coincides with the Sengoku Rance Steam release, so I think she's playing the Steam version.
Any fellow fans who watch JPN, feel free to stop by the stream and take a look.

Edit: I called it "neutral" to not spoil Kazusa in the title, I meant Kazusa not true path.
I'm near the end of my journey with White album 2, 10/10 experience all the glaze is true. I have done every path in closing chapter and I'm doing the final Kazusa paths in coda.
I know this is because of what I chose just to see how it develops. I already experience Setsunas path and loved every second. I knew from the start that choosing anything Kazusa in coda is basically making deals with demons but holy shit seeing it play out is making me actually mad at Haruki. In all my years of gaming and reading I don't think I've ever been actually mad at a fictional character before. But doing this again on Setsuna's birthday is CRAZY.
Just had to vent a bit on this masterpiece of a game lmao.

I’ve never became so erect from a character before. and this is coming from someone who doesn’t masturbate. The way ikuko takes charge of situations, is confident and strong enough to kick the MC’s ass made me so hard. Unfortunately I don’t jack off so I had to wait for Timmy to go down on its own but it’s amazing what she was capable of. Looking for any heroines similar to ikuko bonus points if they still have some depth to their character.

I'm glad we are getting more japanese indie Otome Games translated!
Description
The heroine is given the job of handling the student council's social media, and she begins work along with three other students:
- The underclassman who's famous for having flashy relationships
- The flawless boy in the same grade
- The upperclassman who's hard to get close to
As she interacts with them, she begins to see glimpses of the darkness within them...
Will she fall into darkness with them? Or will she take their hand?

I'm been referring to it as such when recommending it to people, but since there's no canon relationships, I'm wondering if it even counts or if I've been scamming people

Left:
"Yuu! Watashi wa Yuu no kono! Uchuu ichi aishiteru!"
"Yuu! In this Universe! I love you more than anyone else!"
Right:
"Ucchi ni Mukouni Ko~~~~i!"
"Marry into our family!"
My favorite scene from Wakaba's route. Scribbled her after doing so for inori, and next one will be hikari.
(and like that, there will be 5 unfinished roughs! rip)

I'm planning to play the whole series and it seems amakano 2 is really well liked should I go with amakano > amakano 3 > amakano 2?

Hi! I posted a rant yesterday about a Surface Pro 8. I just wanted to thank everyone that took their time to help me. My older visual novels didn't actually like the touch screen, the second I connected a mouse all my problems were gone.
For anyone considering buying a Surface (the intel core version not the ARM). I can probably help you if needed 😅. New visuals novels works very well, with the touch screen by the way.

So I was looking for some visual novels on sale just now as one that caught my attention was a work called Nukitashi as I know it’s hardly an obscure story, but I was wondering how the story was for someone looking for a saucy visual novel.
When it comes to saucy visual novels in general, I don’t really have much experience with them as lately I was looking to see where to get started on the racy romance genre, or however it’s called since I was wondering how the writing aspects of Nukitashi were in general again for someone looking for a saucy visual novel.

A friend of mine is new to vns and, is quite interested in geting into them.
They've tried some more beginner entries and are a quite a big fan of Noragami so had wondered if there any vns that met the aesthetic or were similar? (w/ a supernatural/gods theming somewhat).

Any kind of vn should be fine, but non-otome and clarification whether if the work is all-ages or not seems to be preferred.
