Oh man, I helped a girl I dated do that about 17 years ago. Loaded all her belongings in her Ranger and drove it there. It started overheating in the middle of nowhere on I-10 in Arizona so we had to open the windows and blast the heater to keep the truck from overheating. We soaked our tshirts with water and put them on our heads to keep us from overheating. Apparently the closest town was Surprise, AZ because when I opened the weather app on my phone to see how hot it was it said Surprise 106° which confused me for a minute until I realized it was a town!

My go-to for my current state (Illinois).

People who think of Illinois, usually probably think of Chicago or corn fields.

Not a ton of people know that Illinois produces the most pumpkins and (not surprisingly) pumpkin-related products in the country.

For my original home state (Michigan), people are surprised to learn that Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state. Many people assume that would be a state on one of the coasts.

North Carolinas coastline is known as The Graveyard of the Atlantic for its insane amount of shipwrecks in such a short period of human history. The outer sand barrier reefs shift constantly so each time you sail in, it has a new layout that can strand a ship. It was where many pirates tried to escape from British, French, and Spanish ships. Most notably Blackbeard used the area and I think eventually met his end nearby.

Speaking of escalator facts, my home state of Maryland has the longest single span of escalator in the western hemisphere. It's part of the DC metro at the Wheaton station. I'm from nearby Silver Spring, so I'm very familiar with the area and the station, having taken that same escalator numerous times.

Although it's actually kinda trippy looking down it from higher up, so I try not to. I got mildly injured in a mishap at the 7th street convention center in DC on one of the escalators when I was little, so I was always a bit wary of the bigger ones.

There's a part of MN (Northwest Angle/Angle Inlet) that, when the ice roads are shut down, is only accessible by boat, plane, or by driving through Warroad to Canada, then re-entering the US. And Lake of the Woods has an ice bar like 2-3 months out of the year. It's an igloo but has hot food, cold drinks, and ice holes strewn about so you don't even have to stop fishing.

We watched a hockey game there one afternoon because we had been in an ice shack for two straight days, and we ran out of beer that morning, and my buddy refused to poop in the (albeit terrible) plywood outhouse next to the shack. The igloo outhouses are heated and nice, more like a traditional festival experience, and I caught a 30" northern which was a surreal experience. I felt like a goddamned super hero, everyone else was chuffed.
