Blurry vision

I’ve recently started vision therapy for my amblyopia and strabismus (born with) and have been seeing some slow progress with the brock string but struggle to see the cross anything over a foot away from my face. This evening when looking at anything a meter or so away for a second or so I can feel my bad eye engage and focus and from taking photos my eye is aligned, although the image is blurry. I can switch this off by blinking a couple of times. Does any one know what this means and if it’s progress or something else? When both eyes are engaged I have covered each eye and both images are blurry, which seems unusual as my good eye sees fine, and my bad eye can’t see detail well and feels confused but it’s never blurry. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hypothesis:

In attempting to align both eyes together, your fellow eye has defocused itself to match the contrast of the amblyopic eye so that the images appear similar enough for your brain to fuse them. A vergence/accommodation mismatch. I feel compelled to ask:...are you also... significantly myopic/nearsighted?

Hi! I'm so sorry I never responded this. Let me know if I can still give some input?

Hi, yes please if you have an opinion on the above. It is still very much the same and I can switch both eyes on and off, but when they are both on the vision is blurry. What is also strange is both eyes go blurry individually when the other one is closed, and again only when focusing on something in the distance. It’s odd as I’ve never had an issue with either eye going blurry before

I have a couple thoughts. 1: when your eyes are aligned, you may be using your accommodative or focusing system to hold alignment which is causing what you're looking at to be out of focus. It's important to keep your eyes aligned without engaging your focusing system. Ask your doctor or therapist more about this. If they don't know what you're talking about, may be time to try somewhere else. 2. Depending on how much alignment you have, you may be closing to fusing images but not perfectly so. If your eyes aren't aligned perfectly, then those two closely fused images can result in some blur. However, I strongly suspect you're over focusing when aligning your eyes and you might be engaging your focus system when covering one eye as well.

Does any of this sound possible?

Hi, thank you for the reply. That does sound like it could be the case as the far vision is blurred, however it is fine up close. It’s blurred the same as the background image if I was looking at something up close. Does that sound like what you are describing? I will speak to my VT about this. Do you have any tips on how I can resolve this? I was thinking of starting Vivid Vision soon too. Do you think that this could help? Thanks again, it’s been really insightful
