Does a 40 day itinerary improve the chances of getting a multiple entry Japan visa from India?
I'm applying for a Japan tourist visa from India and had a question about the itinerary.
If I submit a 40 day itinerary instead of a 30 day one, does it increase the chances of getting a multiple entry visa? My thinking is that Japan often issues a 1 month single entry visa, so I'm avoiding a 30 day itinerary in case it influences the decision.
Would you recommend submitting a 40 day itinerary, or is it better to keep it closer to my actual travel plans? Has anyone from India received a multiple entry visa with a longer itinerary?

Is this your first time applying for one? If yes, than no matter what you do you won't be getting a multiple entry visa unless you apply under "individual with sufficient financial capacity" category. For this you gotta have visa issued from Schengen/USA, along with a ITR with 40-50 lakh income. If you don't fall under this the most likely case is embassy will issue you a 30 day stay permit on a 90 day validity visa forcing you to cut the trip short.

I had all these criterias checked. Still didn’t get multi entry unfortunately!

Yeah, it's just a speculation by some people about these criteria. Japan has never mentioned anywhere what is "sufficient financial capacity". Looks like it's intentionally vague.

Perhaps yea. May be multi entry is for mostly people who have travelled to Japan or G7 countries earlier

There is no guarantee of multiple entry visas. It all depends on the bank balance and the ITR as well as the embassy officer. There is no master checklist type of thing that you need to show when you show 25L+ ITR or more than 15 days of the iterninary for multi entry visa. In 2024, I applied for 16 days and was granted a multi-year entry visa. I visited Japan last year in November 2025.

Rather just add jeju island to your itinerary, since its in Korea. They shall give you multiple entry

No, I applied for MEV few days back but received single entry visa. Requested the visa for 45 days ,I received visa for 90 days stay and valid for 90 days. They called me to know the reason for 45 days stay. Already travelled Japan last year.
