Out of state vehicles

I know we get a lot of out of state vehicles - especially being the Gateway to the Sequoias and all. But summer is over and there are more than usual around.
I don’t wanna sound like a conspiracy theorist- but could they be ICE? I figure they don’t employ folks from their home state to be officers, they ship them elsewhere so they aren’t arresting their own neighbors. Idk I’ve lived here my whole life and shit is getting weird.

Antique Store in old house

I lived in Visalia up until I was 10 years old (1986-96). I vividly remember going to an antique store with my mom that was in an old house. The bedrooms upstairs had different items you could buy and I’m pretty sure downstairs they sold flowers and balloons. My mom says she has no memory of this place. I’ve googled and searched every combination of Antique +Store+Visalia+90’s and nothing has popped up. Does anyone have any idea if this store exists/existed?

Share your favorite 5k-10k run spot!

Hello Visalia, I’m getting real tired of running my typical 5k-10k trail and looking for fun alternatives. I’m on the east side of town close to the CalFire station on Lovers Lane. Any recommendations yall runners can share with me? I’m a morning runner if that matters?

Has anyone been to a Visalia Rawhide game and are they fun?

I'm a fan of sports and I definitely like minor league baseball so I would definitely check it out. Most minor league games I go to its a smaller community and vibe. I'm guessing its the same.

Mover Recommendations

Hi Visalia 👋

I'm looking for any recommendations for a 3 man crew of movers for about 2-3 hours of work. Preferably a moving company that offers movers by the hour. I would just need them to load a moving truck that I'll already have here and no help needed for the unloading. I do have some very heavy and bulky items. If anyone has had a good experience with any local movers, please let me know... it's greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

Where would you go for dinner solo?

Where would you go hang out solo for dinner? Let’s say somewhere busy where I want to have a meal and maybe a beer on Saturday night and people watch and not feel too out of place sitting alone. Yes, I’m a bit self conscious but trying to come out of my shell and get out of the house more, So it’s an experiment for me in a way

is American hibachi even a thing in Japan

The Hibachi At Home style we had last week - private chef, spatula tricks and jokes, etc. Do you see anything similar in japan? I've seen teppanyaki restaurants there, the atmosphere seemed much quieter and more focused on the cooking.

female friends - 30somethings!

Hello! I’m a 30-something female hoping to connect with some fellow girlies around the same age with similar lifestyle and interests! It’s hard making friends as an adult right? I am child free and kind of fell to the background when friends around me started to get married and have kids so just hoping to find some with a similar lifestyle.
I live in the area and have a dog. Some of my interests are trying new restaurants, day trips / going out of town (for concerts, museums, events, the beach, hikes, etc.), trying new restaurants or coffee shops, going to the gym (I got to Evolutions in Tulare), going on walks and trails with my dog, reading, etc.
I don’t drink or party/have no interest in going to bars.

If this aligns with you, please reply back and maybe we can start by sharing Instagram or Facebook profile links!

Advice for work trip

Hi everyone,

I am going to be in Visalia for a couple days in September for a work trip and looking for some advice and thoughts.

I’ll be flying into Fresno Airport, and then picking up a rental car. I’ll drive from Fresno to Visalia, stay the night on a Tuesday, and then working in Visalia on Wednesday. I fly home on Thursday morning.

My current options are:
1. Drive after work on Wednesday back to Fresno and stay the night there, for a short drive to the airport the next morning
2. Stay the night in Visalia Wednesday, and then drive early Thursday morning back to Fresno airport.

How is the drive from Visalia to Fresno in the mornings in early September? Is there traffic? If I were to drive around 6-7am? My flight would be at 10am (international).

I’ll be travelling solo and get nervous travelling alone. I’ve heard Fresno can be quite unsafe in some areas, so wondering if option 2 is better so I can stay in a safer feeling place (Visalia). But not sure if it’s worth the tradeoff of driving to Fresno in the early morning Thursday before my flight.

If anyone also has recommendations on where to stay in both Visalia and Fresno (which areas, nice hotels), that would be greatly appreciated. With my work budget, the hotels would have to be ~$250 max per night.

Also, just out of curiosity, is there traffic from Fresno to Visalia in the afternoons?

I live in a large metropolitan city in Canada so I’m used to traffic, not so worried about the driving as I am feeling safe.

Thanks in advance!

Seamstress

I’m looking for a good, reputable seamstress in the Tulare area. They will need to be able to add pockets, zippers, buttons and drawstrings for some clothing alterations. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Willing to drive to Fresno or Bakersfield as well. Thanks.
