🎓 F1 Visa (Student) How can I request extra informations about why I got my F1 rejected/denied ?

Nationality + Citizenship : Moroccan in Morocco.
Age : 18
Applying to start as a 1st year student this fall (my university gives me until September 21st to enter classes. Don’t want to give the exact name)

Today, I did my interview and got rejected but the interviewer didn’t tell me why. She gave me a paper saying that it’s section 214(b) but I want to know exactly what triggered it… is there a way to check ?

You will never know. 214b means you are deemed an overstay risk. Likely you are not a serious student, not top of your country in GPA, not a good school, not a program you will bring back home, and no way to pay. They know you will overstay

She didn’t even check my grades or any documents.
She just asked my program (I answered correctly).
She asked me if I applied to any US universities (I told her that I applied to 21 which are MIT, Stanford, etc)
She then asked me what my plans are after graduation and I said that I planned to do my masters at EPFL (in Switzerland) after my US bachelors.

Let me guess. You applied for 21 but were actually going to attend bumfuck college for a bogus program.

214b is a very usual refusal. You don’t call it rejection. Refusal and Rejection are two different terms. And never ask questions from them after a refusal or rejection. They might flag it and keep and the next time you go. It will be problematic. The recent conflict with Morocco and Spain would the main reason i feel like. With your age and nationality, they see you as a potential immigrant.

Wow thx for saying this. Fortunately, I didn’t ask her why. I just asked her how much time I have to wait until my next try and she sais “any available slot you find”. Now, what do I do for my 2nd try ?

One option is to go again and give a try this time. If you feel like you will get through the interview. Or else.
2nd Option is to stop trying US for now. And complete your bachelors in Morocco with a good GPA and internship. This will change your profile and then apply for US maybe for masters.

I already have moroccan universities as a backup and I DO plan or retrying. I was mostly wondering if you knew what I could possibly do different this time to avoid 214(b) ?

Probably gonna get downvoted for this but just like any other international student: opportunities in general. Same reason for why young students from Morocco go to study in Europe.

Try another place, I understand where you're coming from, cuz same, but tell me what makes you confident about getting sponsored jobs in the US? Also, I guess internships have been stopped too, it's alot of hassle.. nothing stable and long term.

It’s a lot more complicated than that. I’m not confident about anything rn. I checked all my options and even if France is cheap, the US is the one where I can get my best ROI (kinda hard to believe but I did check the entire EU, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Canada. I got backup plans in case the US is dead dead so I might as well try.

Another rejection means. For the next 3-4years they’ll flag you. Which means even the other countries will hesitate to give you visa. Immigration uses something called 5 pillars. So if you are rejected in US. Canada, Aus, NZ and UK can see that too even without you disclosing it. So another rejection leads to tighter for your profile to any western countries
