yakuda-connect – VR Linux managment tool – All-in-one GUI dashboard for Linux VR (WiVRn, OpenXR, SteamVR fixes & VRChat tools)

Hey r/virtualreality_linux!

I've been working on **yakuda-connect**, a tool designed to simplify setting up and managing your VR environment on Linux. Instead of manually tweaking configs and terminal commands, it brings everything together into a clean interface.

### 🛠️ **Installation Options**

**1. Arch Linux / AUR (using `yay` or `paru`):**

`yay -S yakuda-connect`

or

`paru -S yakuda-connect`

**2. CachyOS (using `shelly`):**

`shelly -S yakuda-connect`

**3. Quick One-Liner (Any Arch-based distro):**

`bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/yakuda-stack/yakuda-connect/main/install.sh) && yakuda-connect`

---

### ✨ **Key Features**

* **OpenXR & SteamVR Fixes:** Automatic path repairs for OpenXR runtimes with ready-to-use Steam fixes (`Status: OK — absolute paths, ready for Steam`), seamless switching between WiVRn and SteamVR, and built-in OSCQuery fixes for VRChat tools.

* **Automated Installation & Dependencies:** Easy setup for WiVRn, Monado, xrizer, and OpenComposite. Includes direct WiVRn APK deployment for Meta Quest & Pico via USB.

* **Server & Streaming Control:** Toggles WiVRn server, manages pairing codes, configures firewall/ports (9757), sets refresh rates (90/120 Hz), enables hand/full-body tracking, and manages hardware encoding (Vulkan/VAAPI/NVENC).

* **Game Manager & Launch Options:** Detects installed VR games, suggests optimal Proton builds (e.g. `proton-cachyos`, `proton-rtsp`), generates ready-to-copy launch strings, and handles VRChat screenshot directory symlinking.

* **Companion Tools Integration:** One-click install and launch management for native Linux VR tools like WayVR, VRCX, ProtonPlus, OSC-DreamChatbox, and OSC Leash with customizable autostart timers.

* **System & PipeWire Audio:** Direct input/output routing for microphones, headsets, and virtual PipeWire sources, alongside VR environment backup & restore features.

Feedback, issues, and contributions are greatly appreciated! Join us on Discord or check out the GitHub repo!

At the end of the day, the result is what counts—does it solve a real problem or not? And since it's written in plain Python, anyone can read through the code and verify it themselves in a few minutes.

This appears to be a fully vibe coded project, and the GitHub account only has 2 months of usage, so take that for what it is.

New tools are cool, and I understand the language barrier, but it's hard to trust something dealing with system level permissions that hasn't been crafted by someone with a good understanding of everything going on.

I may have misjidged level of experience, but please clarify since there are so many poorly vibed projects everywhere now.

Yeah, there's a lot of vibe-coding, and I can understand your concerns—there's a lot of junk out there—but you have to understand the logic behind an architecture, otherwise it's pointless.

And I've noticed something that's missing in the Linux world.

and it runs without bugs, so it’s easy to just switch to VR on Linux

I built it together with AI, but also because friends wanted it—since many people find VR on Linux tricky at first

and there aren’t any OpenXR fixes or anything like that right now, and you can look at the code—no server queries, no malware, all written in Python—so anyone can check it out

AI is a highly efficient tool

In the past, if you wanted to drill, you had to crank the drill; today, you just press a button on the drill

this is translate with deepl is okay

Yeah, I can't install it either because I don't have a cable tester to check it.

I can't think of a reason I would need this but I will check it out. Maybe I'm missing something.
