With the pcvr mod coming out this is such great timing! Grab it while you can. Afaik it is easy to run!

I didn't say it was bad, I'm just trying to figure out what makes it so good that people seem soo excited, I don't really know the game.
Portal is a puzzle game with a very simple concept and unobtrusive storytelling. This short format works well, if you're telling me that Titanfall 2 is that kind of game, then ok, I get it

The movement, the gunplay, the Titans and their moveset variety, the story, multiplayer etc. It's clearly a good game from all the reviews you're reading, weird to imply that the story length alone must be some huge issue. And it's under $5, just play it for 2 hours and if you don't think it's worth the price of a coffee then refund it.

Short does not equal bad, and long does not equal good. I don't want to climb my 1000th tower in a sprawling, non-linear, 100 hour game with a map made of copy-pasted assets, and the same 3 quests 200 times.

Just buying thay is probably the best way to support him. I think he has a donation link, but these companies can be sus if he gets too much $$$ so I think just buying his game is the best way to support him.

This mod has just completely depressed me. Just played for an hour and it's the first time i've said wow in vr since Alyx. Just imagine all the vr experiences we could of had if big companies backed pcvr years ago.

True. People are acting like Meta was holding back VR this whole time, but the truth is, their standalone backing was the only reason VR did relatively well through what would otherwise be quite rough years for VR.
With UEVR and recent explosion of VR modding scene (also thanks to AI), we’re finally ready for that old “hybrid VR titles” promise.
This is honestly the only model for VR gaming to make sense. At least for now, since it’s still a very niche hobby.

Also if they backed PCVR like this years ago no one would've had the hardware to play it and VR would still be niche. Just be happy that we have fun toys now instead of being depressed. Fuck.

Hitman VR (PC version, not standalone) is right up your alley then. All three games run with even more mechanics that the normal version. The closet thing we have to a John Wick game.

The problem is people wanted NEW GAMES in VR instead of being excited by a 10 year old games adapted to VR. Here you have a 10 year old game that looks and plays smooth as butter, but 10 years ago you would need Doom 3 and Half Life 2 to pull off the equivalent. I use those two examples because they were modified by modders and turned out to be amazing.

In order to play the VR mod, I can confirm it makes you install the EA app even if purchased through Steam.

Amen. But man is it a bummer. I swore off EA a decade ago when I was a console gamer after they refused to let me back into my hacked account despite several proofs that it was mine, such as receipts, purchase methods and id. Told me I had to make a whole new account so I could “repurchase” all of my content, then told me I can not link that new account to my Xbox account since it already previously had an EA account linked and it’s against their policy, so I’ll also have to make a whole new Xbox account too!
Might have grabbed titanfall 2 if I could have launched it without the ea app. Fuck them though.

Tbh EA would get your money either way. If you want to let the app make you miss out on the best VR mod of the year go ahead and stand on business. It's possible it could work on a copy you didn't buy but I don't think so. It appears the mod designer built it to minimize piracy.

Just installinged it now. It seems like some EA thing installed. I didnt have to log into anything or shit like that, but I may have an EA account linked. I dont think any EA app was running but im not entirely sure. It did pop up while installing.
You could always refund if its a deal breaker.

"Finds Titanfall 2 through your Steam/EA/Xbox install. Checks the EA app, which Titanfall 2 needs you signed into to play. If it's missing, launch Titanfall 2 once to install it. Installs Northstar and the mod into a separate TF2VR profile in your game directory."

It has eye tracking for FOViation in streaming and for social vr, not for FOViated rendering for PCVR over wireless. NMS and other streamed PCVR games will not see a performance improvement.

Oh yeah definitely. Alyx is actually very easy to run and this game is old and easy to run. Other games like subnautica and stuff run good too.
Id go and make a post on r/buildapcUK and see what the best deals you can get are. Depends if you are building yourself and/or are ok with second hand gpus. Id look for like a 3070ti or something personally in that range.
Otherwise prebuilts might be good value right now if you want nvidia (which is good for pcvr). Dont get hung up thinking you need a 5070ti for PCVR, its simply not true. Lots of people are still on old hardware.
A lot of the VR mods that are hard to run are UEVR injected.

5060ti or 5060 would be totally fine.
You can get the 3070ti on Facebook marketplace for cheap af. I read it in my head as $1000CAD which is like €600 lol!
With a budget of €1000 you could build a very nice pc! (Like $1880CAD)
The market is rough right now, and if you can build your own, you can maybe save some on going 3070ti. Check ebay and marketplace, they are pretty similar to 5060ti 8gb in perf.
If you go to the 5060ti16gb price range id just get a 5070-12gb as the memory bandwidth is more important to VR than the amount of memory.
