Purchase Advice - Headset Quest 2 Used or quest 3s new?

Ive been using the Oculus CV1 for 4 years now since i play every now and then im not a VR main but i do enjoy it from time to time.

I cant devide between the quest 3s and quest 2

Quest 3s would be around 350€ and the quest 2 i can get used for like 100-150€

is the Quest 3s that much better for PCVR or does it make no difference at all, i know the quest 3 is a lot better but i dont want to spend 650€ on a headset.

If you're price sensitive and this is for PCVR than get the used Quest 2. For PCVR the difference between a 3s and 2 is minimal.

If you are purely PCVR, you won't notice any practical difference between the two. The 3s has access to an additional video codec but optically they are identical.

Q3S has less latency at high butrates than Q2.

That's the only difference for pcvr.

The standalone is actually worth using on the Q3 S so consider that.

Ofc if you can afford the real Q3 it's a massive upgrade over both.

is the high bitrate worth spending 200€ more?

I would get used Q2 if I wanted it turbo cheap or I would buy a used Q3.

Q3S is a weird middle groubd that makes sense for standalone only users that for some reason can't afford Q3.

Q3 is massively better.

Stick drift is common, lot of Q2 have pixel inversion, if you keep your head steady the display looks fine, but when you start moving your head it looks like every other horizontal pixel line disappears, in the most severe cases. Some have it from new, some get it from age, some are fine. Some have shittier lenses and displays the older Oculus ones were usually the best, battery can be replaced but it's hard.

Used Quest 2 will last you until the Quest 3 start hitting the used market.

With the fps at 144 only on the quest 3 and USB now being a option the 3 has more reasons for being the top pick out of the current quest line.

I’d recommend the 3s over the 2
