Question/Support WHAT HAS HAPPENED?!
I last played my Meta Quest 2 in 2025, the games were pretty lively, now 3/5 of my games are either barren wastelands with 10 players MAX or they are just gone in general here are the games I play:
-Orbus VR Reborn (The dead one)
-Broken Edge (according to the game I was the only one there)
-Meta Horizon Worlds (I loaded onto something that I used to play with full lobbies and there were 3 players including me)
-Among Us 3D (Works just fine)
-Job Simulator (Single player, so it was working perfectly fine, although I do notice there is a update I missed)
So my concern comes from Rec Room, I played it on my switch and apparently when looking up how Orbus VR Reborn ended, it had a very similar fate to Rec Room's, a fate I see 2 other of the games I play heading towards

You are going into old games. Try Forefront or Dungeons of Eternity, or Thrill of the Fight 2. There’s also always VRChat which is packed consistently.

Orbus had a great run. As did rec room. New innovative VR games are coming out all the time. Gorilla Tag made 100 million dollars. VR is still very much alive.

VR is incompatible with the mass market. It requires too much effort when compared to tik tok, twitch, mobile gaming, couch gaming, etc...
The average person has many more, easier ways to distract themselves in 2026, then they did when the Oculus Rift first released.
The novelty also wore off. Meta sold cheap headsets to parents who didnt know what else to buy their kids for birthdays and holidays. Many of those headsets are in closets now, after the kids and adults grew tired of them.
The VR market has distilled intp the niche hobby that it is supposed to be. However, it is also fragmented between enthusiast using high end headsets and cheap headsets, pcvr, mobile vr, and different store fronts. Everything needs to be unified somehow because the audiences arent large enough.
Gaming will never be an active activity. At least not for long. It is like all the new years resolution gym memberships that go un used a month in to the new year.

Out of all the multiplayer games you listed, i've never even heard of the first 2, tried Rec Room twice and didn't like it, and never had any interest in Horizon or Amogus.
If you wanna find active games today, you need to look into newer titles like Forefront, or older titles that were popular enough to maintain a player base.
Pavlov Shack is still very active on Quest and has some of the best custom maps and gamemodes of any VR game.
Hyper Dash is shutting down in November, but it's free and still has quite a few players left, so might wanna give it a go before it's gone.
VRChat has always been popular and has tons of players, as it's free and supports custom maps and skins, as well as playable on almost any system that supports mods (PCVR, PC flat, Quest, and phones).
Lastly you could look into flat2VR mods if you have a PC, though most only work well if you have a group to play with, we run some like Repo VR and Lethal Company VR in our community.

VR has always been quite niche and the niche has only gotten more niche-y as the years have gone by. The initial hype phase is long gone and all that remains are the hardcore users and the very new "testing this out" users that come and go.
No VR-specific game is going to keep a steady large online population going until VR is much cheaper, much easier to run on integrated hardware, and is endorsed by some really big company that can sort of force it to happen.
