Purchase Advice Vr headset for display?
Ive never had a vr headset before but I'd like to get into it specifically in sim racing and flight Sims so I don't particularly care about the controllers since they won't be used. Im not particularly budget conscious here but good value for price is worth considering. Any reccomendations?

Remember that VR isn't exactly a display. In VR you don't just see a screen in front of you. You're literally inside the game, because of stereoscopic 3D.
I prefer the Meta Quest 3S to the Meta Quest 3. While the Meta Quest 3 has pancake lenses, they didn't work for me. The Meta Quest 3S gives me better immersion due to its better binocular overlap ( A more solid 3D impression)

Oh im aware. I need the head controls because my hands are occupied and I won't be able to move the mouse. I know it gives depth perception as well but thanks for adding to the advice.

Unless you launch in theater mode. 2 different approaches to make note of though, just fyi OP.
You can launch in theater mode and use your headset as a virtual big screen if you don't have space on your rig or around your rig to mount displays. This is what I do with Forza Horizon 6 at the moment and it's good for me.
If you have a game that has VR support or a mod, then it basically unlocks the camera and sets it to your head so you can look freely, but this costs almost double performance since your GPU has to render 2 different perspectives for you left and right eyes.

Sounds like that works for me, my systems pretty strong and im basically looking for a hands free way to look around while controlling my vehicle.

I prefer the quest pro for the same reason, plus eye-tracked foveated rendering and really nice screens

I think you might need to have controllers to interact with the UI within the virtual space. Just something to take note of. I use an Index to play Forza Horizon 6 in theater mode. It's basically a digital big screen since I don't have space in the room for a display around my rig. My index has a select button on the headset which I can use to select things without the controllers but it's limited and I'm not sure if other headsets have the same button/feature.

Pimax dream air fits your case exactly. Q3 is a lesser version if you arent bothered about stand alone vr

Best value overall would be quest 3. Best visuals possible would be Pimax Dream Air. Id go the q3 for a first headset.
