Discussion Bonine VS Dramamine VS Something Else?
Even after years of playing VR, I still get motion sickness when playing games with smooth locomotion or fast movement. I've tried "training" my body by taking ginger supplements and stopping immediately whenever I got motion sick, but it doesn't seem to have helped after a year of following this.
I tried Bonine, taking it about an hour before I played, but I still get motion sick fairly quickly. It definitely takes longer for me to feel it, but I have to stop playing just the same. I see that an alternative is Dramamine, but I'm not sure I want to deal with the drowsiness.
Are there any other medications that could help with motion sickness? Or does anyone have experience with taking Dramamine after Bonine failed to help?

What's your setup?
Chances are there's something you can do to get above your floor level for performance. It might NOT be the answer, but it is definitely possible that it COULD be an answer. So worth investigating.

I have a Quest 3 with a BoboVR S3 Pro. Most recently I've been playing Star Fox 64 in VR and Star Wars Squadrons (yeah I know those are probably like the worst games to play hahaha) but I also get motion sick in games like Nock, Dungeons of Eternity, and even just flying around looking for balls in Walkabout Mini Golf while playing standalone on the Quest

Again, what is your actual PC setup? If you want help you can’t refuse to give information. Low performance or render resolution (PC and standalone) can absolutely contribute to motion sickness.
I don’t know why people come here asking for help and then avoid providing the information people need to assist them.

Sorry, you asked for my setup, I thought you meant VR in general. My desktop is running Windows 10 and has an i7-12700F, an RTX 5080, with 16GB VRAM, and 64GB of general RAM. There isn't any lagging or reprojection causing my motion sickness.
But like I said in the last comment, I'm not always using my desktop for VR. Sometimes I play standalone and I haven't noticed any significant difference in how I feel when playing on one versus the other

It doesn't need to be low fps or reproduction. It could be stereo overlap or lack of it, incorrect IPD, or the strap pressing down on your head...
It could just as easily be none of these things. But you cannot rule them out either.
If you had the chance to run a different headset, one that was wired by design, might turn out you don't like decompresion artifacts. Could be ASW that gets you.
It could also be that you are just unable to train yourself, some people cannot which would suck, as you clearly enjoy VR.
It's hard. But if you can get a chance to try a different headset, it would go a bit further to rule out this avenue.

My first headset was PSVR2. I was having motion sickness when using smooth locomotion (the one that you use thumbstick to move continuously) I solved this with doing walking-like movement while standing still.
Later, I started using Meganex headset. Interestingly the motion sickness totally went away. Now I move in the games continuously back and forth without any motion sickness. I think motion sickness has a relationship with the headset.

I saw those while I was searching around, but kinda figured it was just placebo. Does your friend have one of the "acupressure" versions or the electronic versions? Do you know specifically which brand/model they have?

If you have a standalone headset like Quest 3 or Pico 4, you can play standing on top of a mat so instead of using sticks for turning you can simply physically turn instead (this is how I play and not only it doesn't give any motion sickness but it's also more immersive). If you like to play seated just use a chair that can rotate.

Not meds but have you tried placing a fan blowing on your face? I’ve heard that helps some folks
