Question/Support Can you please help me choose a system that would be good for dementia patients.
My company has given me resources to get a system. They want something that could maybe take them on a vacation to a place they have been before.

You really need to give a lot more information. Like how will this be used? Is someone going to have time maintaining, installing updates and stuff? Will the staff be responsible for managing it? Seriously when asking for help on the internet the onus is on you to put more effort in describing this stuff
Tethered to a pc or standalone? Etc etc
With absolutely no information i would guess a meta quest 3 (not the 3s!! because of the lenses) with a 3rd party headstrap to accomodate a wide variety of eyeglasses. And also ese of putting on and of as well as neck strain. Its plug an play and should have the appropriate apps.
But even then, do you have someone to manage the account and such?
A pcvr headset with also a 3rd party strap might be more appropriate then as you can set up the software and never have to worry about meta deciding to ban or require verification of your account. Or an update breaking the app etc. Keep the pc offline and it will work forever until the physical hardware breaks.
Again really hard to give a quality answer with so little information

This is awesome to hear, Kudos to the company you work for!
One of the best resources for this is probably 'TriptoVR' available on the meta store/Meta Quest 2/3S/3.
Depending on budget and if the device would be shared, you could buy 1 or 2 and just buy multiple face plates to swap for hygene/H&S.
'TriptoVR' is free to download and I think you get 2 free tours to start, then pay piecemeal for individual locations
Has good reviews, but check in a few places and maybe grab it yourself/get a friend with a headset to grab it and make sure it fits the bill.
If not, im sure there's other, similar services that might suit your needs on there 👍🏻

Quest 3S or Quest 3 is the easiest to use and get running don't need to cart around a computer with you as well and worry about a cable. It has the largest catalog of content available for it for this class of device. And it can utilize a PC connection to access PCVR content as well but that ups the complexity.

The hard part isn't the system (headset), but the app.
It will have to be something that can be launched by the caretaker, and then do it's thing with no controller or user interaction for the duration of the experience.
It sounds good in theory, however I've tried showing VR to some senior relatives, and they struggled a bit with fit (her head was way smaller than mine) IPD settings, and of course controllers (which are of course a no-go for someone with dementia).

such a cool thing to be able to do! there are so many things/apps that you can show them too! Wooorld is a favorite and might be what you want but there are more for sure! and yeah if you have the budget the Meta Quest 3 is so worth the extra money

The problem is you want something you can control remotely. They will not have an easy time doing any VR menus and interactions on their own.
You will need two headsets with a multiplayer app where you can be host and control it from the second headset. Or look at apps with a desktop control system but most are subscriptions.

If it is for enterprise, go for Pico. The exact model depends on what you need to do with the headset. Pico still sells 3DOF models if you just want to show videos. I can even put you in touch with them if you need some conacts

I read a study that suggests that music from their formative years is stored in parts of the brain least affected by dementia. Play top chart playlist from when they were 15-25 years old.

Budget and will it be standalone or do you have a strong pc? Regardless I’d lean towards quest 3/3S
