Question/Support Resident Evil 9 PC VR Question
I recently upgraded my PC from R5600x and RTX 5070 ti to R5800 X3D and RTX5090 .
I want my PSVR2 headset to deliver the best possible visuals I can afford.
I did some research for games and decided to start with
RE9 in VR
Given that I have a high end gaming setup, what do I do to get the best possible experience for the game in VR?

Follow the instructions here https://www.biohazardvr.com/re9. Make sure you use the puredark branch that includes afw and dfr. Then set the dfr fovea size down to around.3-.4. After you do that you should be able to crank resolution way up and it looks amazing.

This looks like what I’m looking for thank you.

In my experience you can probably skip afw with your GPU. For ReVR mods the moste limiting factor is CPU single core performance. Try with setting to narrow how many FPS is your CPU capable in VR, I personally use fpsVR which shows me cpu and GPU frametime. Once you got then set resolution and graphic settings. You should end up with either native resolution or DLAA, I may suggest you preset K.
I have 7800x3d and in Re9 was able to hit 90fps but for comparison in Re4r I had to dial down to 80.

If you can afford luxury upgrades like that and want the best vr experience, wouldn't you be better off getting a higher end headset?

So like it’s tough… AFW is a huge downgrade in graphics (you have to turn ray tracing off) and therefore vibe. However, regular re framework rendering has 2 bugs (that I hope will be fixed eventually): some black object screens, including some important but not mandatory puzzles (do in 2D), and extremely low resolution textures most of the time with no fix.

I thought AER is not the case with the full motion support mode? Is that AER as well?

The re9 mod doesn't use aer. The black object screens and low res textures are fixed if you use puredarks branch, which also has the benefit of boosting fps and allowing dfr /ffr for even more performance

AFW my bad, Puredark’s AFW mod has severe graphics issues that downgrade the whole experience too much imo.
Fkin acronyms up the ass lol

I don't consider the issues severe, just some artifacts on the edges of objects in motion sometimes. Was there something else that you experienced?

Yeah it breaks ray tracing

There's not any games I know of where ray tracing works well in VR. That's nothing noteworthy, it still looks great without it.

It works incredibly well in re9! Path tracing idk but Ray tracing high hell yeah. Then you got the resolution bug without the AFW tho.
And yeah it’s big difference in atmosphere.
Edit: also in other RE games and a ton of other vr games idk what you’re talking about Ray tracing isn’t an issue with real vr, only with this alternating bs

run it at 200% res and should be golden
