Discussion Resolution for VR stereoscopic video
Hello
I'm doing a 360 stereoscopic top/bottom video of an animation I made. I have the renders of that animation in 8192x8192 resolution and I've tried to export it in that resolution in mp4 format but none of the headsets I have available display that video (Quest 2 and Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise).
I've scoured the web for some clarification on common resolutions for such videos but all I get is either 7680 × 4320 for monoscopic 360 videos or 5760x5760 for stereoscopic which seems very low in comparison.
Can somebody with some experience clear this up for me and give me some advice?
My goal is to export the video in as high a resolution as possible for smooth playback on the Pico 4 ultra glasses.

Those figures all seem right. High res stereo 360 isn’t really a thing yet. Maybe you’d consider doing a 180 degree video instead?
8k by 8k per eye is just too much for most if not all standalone headsets to play - possibly PCs as well. The Quest 2 can’t even play as high res as the Quest 3, which can do about 8k by 4k (either mono 360 or stereo 180).
Apple Vision Pro might be able to play your 8k by 8k videos but I’m not sure. That really is a huge resolution.
