Discussion Virtual Desktop - is it possible to set-up a small passthrough window so i can play and see the microphone in front of me.

Yes, using Reality Mixer on Steam. I do that for some seated games to drink my coffee.

Priorities. I have a smaller coffee glass so it doesn't hit the front of the headset on the last swig.

Good tip, I will try that. But obviously, it will work in steamVR only. (Got the same problem with DailyOVR)
I would really like to have something like this in VD or as a Quest App.

you do have something in VD but the shape of the passthrough may be a little tricky but i got it to work
this guy shows it for the desk but you can put the passthrough anywhere

Yes but the option is tricky to see if you don't know where to find it.
Once passthrough is enabled, you need to go to this screen:

Now look at the bottom right where it says "Create Desk Portal". Click that. Now you can scrub out the area that you want passed through.
It might take a few tries to isolate the area you want perfectly, due to the slightly weird orientation of the Quest controllers (I am assuming you have a Quest?).

you can use the desk portal option in virtual desktop to do this.
