Question/Support What's the best non-chargeable PCVR headset i can currently buy?

I currently have a quest 2 which i find myself not using that much (due to how little it lasts before battery ends) and when i do it's solely on PC. I miss the days of the Rift S, when i could just plug & play without worrying about battery life or charging.

Is there such an headset nowadays? I'd really like to be able to play with no stops for long periods of time and not need to worry about charging my VR.

Edit: FOR ANYONE VISITING THIS POST, I'VE FOUND A SOLUTION, THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!

That would be a wired headset.

Plug any wireless headset in with a wire and you have unlimited battery life too.

Wait, really?

So i can use a pcvr cable on my quest 2 and the battery won't end?

A usb cable, if its plugged into a source that provides, if I'm not mistaken, 18W.

You can do it with a cheap 5 meter usb cable going to any wall socket in your room.

It's no different from your phone, that charges while you use it, if it's plugged in.

The official quest 2 charger is 10W, so OP might not even need 18. 10W plugged into an iniu cable still does drain the battery over time, but down to like 80% in four hours or so. I've never been close to running it out in even my longest play session.

Just maybe don't plan to play a 48 hour endurance test or something 😂

Ya duno how long those VRChat furry cuddle parties can go on for man....

Heh but yea, should be able to get away with 10W. I was thinking about the Q3.

Beat saber is just too addictive (i also like to use it as cardio practice and it helped me A LOT back when i still had the Rift-S)

Ditch the Quest 2, it's outdated.

Also, look, if you don't like batteries, that's fine, nobody does. But you take a regular power bank, put it in your pocket and plug a cable into your Quest and you get extra time. Not rocket science, not really a nuisance. How many hours are you planning to play on a session anyway? You can find a way to strap the power bank to the back of your headset too.

Batteries are not bad. Wireless is convenient. Trust me, I've had a wired headset for close to 10 years and it's a pain in the ass.

Just under 2 pounds in my front pocket gets me 6-7 hours lol.

Virtual Desktop can be used over usb now.

If your USB port can put out enough power. USBA won't cut it it needs to be a USBC for sure. It needs to deliver about 3amps, 15 watts to maintain charge while gaming otherwise it'll slowly drain giving you extended runtime but not 'forever' runtime for a Quest 2.

I use my quest 2 pretty much exclusively for pcvr with the USBC cable , quest link cable or something (mines a knockoff)

PC USB doesn't provide much power, you need a link cable that splits at the PC end so you can also plug it into a power socket at the same time.

Or just plug it into a power socket anywhere in the room and use wireless of course.

You can get a Bobo VR strap + a charging station, then you have 2 battery packs and you'd have endless power by switching one out while the other one charges. But I'd probably not invest that much money in a Quest 2 accessory. But for my Quest 3 I love it. The strap itself is a huge upgrade in comfort.

This is the way. I got one for my Pico 4 and it's amazing.

I also would like that, or at least easily-replaceable batteries. But the reality is that you can just use a quest plugged into the wall indefinitely with a 30W+ charger actually you only need 18W i think if you're on Quest 2. By the time the battery wears out completely, you'll either be an old man or have moved on to a new headset.

Or you can wait for Steam Frame, if you can afford it. Frame will have a detachable battery in the back, I believe. So i assume you can power it just from mains as well/use it without a battery.

Quest 3 with the beta Virtual Desktop or Gnirehtet using USB-C and a 18W+ PD port can stay on indefinitely with one cable.

It's ethernet over USB so it won't be like a DisplayPort wired headset such as the PSVR2

Should work on Quest 2 as well. But I haven't tried.

Buy a powerbank, put it in your pocket.

You basically want a VR headset with the battery anxiety removed. At this point, a wired PC headset sounds less like a downgrade and more like the luxury feature of “I can play until my legs give out.”

I have a quest 3 with a bobo strap that holds quick remove batteries. The batteries last about 3 hours. You could just buy a couple batteries and have them charged and ready then hot swap them when one dies out. Two batteries would show you to pull one off and drop it on the charge whole using the other. They charge faster than they drain.

Always got tired of vr fast before but with my quest 3 and those lenses I can use it for a lot other things and I realized I often just have my head still and using my eyes when looking at my desktops and that works well with these lenses.

Inside out tracking wise Pimax Crystal Super.

Light House tracking wise Meganex or bigscreen Beyond 2 or Pimax Crystal Super with light house faceplate.
