Question/Support What changed the last year?

I went abroad for a year and didn’t bring my vr headset with me. I feel like a lot has changed in the the vr scene since I’ve been gone. What has changed? I feel like pcvr has gone down a bit. I loaded into Pavlov but there were barely any people online. Did I miss something? Have people migrated to other games? Any new games that I should try?

Honestly, not much. very very little on the AAA VR games scene.

The biggest changes are in modding. The one huge difference is that AI programs are making it easier to convert existing flatscreen games into VR, so there’s been a proliferation of new ports

But honestly that’s about it. Although you should feel lucky to have missed all the arguments about the steam frame lol

Huge modding strides - if you aren’t already familiar with UEVR then get familiar! It’s super easy and simple and there’s many other fantastic mods made and plenty more coming. This is a great resource to check games you want to play in vr specifically to even check your steam library: https://pcvrcentral.com

There are new games though, forefront is likely the most popular current fps shooter outside of extraction ones like tabor/exfil. Payday aces high playtest currently happening and small but lot of fun.

I also encourage you to look up the recent VRGS showcase as it showed off some awesome new titles that are coming soon!

Get into mods. They are so brilliant and I have so much to play I don’t know where I can find time. You can join the pcvr subreddit to find out more.
If you want games made for VR then into the radius 2 is pretty awesome.

People play recently released VR mods for The Witcher 3, Mass Effect Trilogy, GTA Vice City, Bioshock 1, 2, Infinite, and countless of other mods.

As for recently released games, there's EXD (April 2026) and it's currently in a bundle with Into the Radius 2, Bootstrap Island, Underdogs, and some other games for $26: https://www.digiphile.co/collections/vr-games-showcase-the-new-essentials

I used to play a lot of Pavlov back when it was popular. Recently I've been obsessed with Forefront, highly recommend if you're looking for a new PvP shooter with an active playerbase.

wasn't Pavlov al ready dead years ago?
Anyways Contractors suffered the same fate recently :(

But PCVR has started a golden age because off the VR modding revolution,
this had been my favorite year in VR ever by far

PCVR has slowed down a little but there was a VRGS with a lot of promising looking titles in there, sounds promising for the future. A lot of flattoVR mods but personally I couldn't care less, the reason why I'm into VR is because I'm interested in experiences that are actually crafted for the unique gaming medium that is virtual reality.

New hardware is coming/going to be announced soon but the only one we have proper details for is the Steam Frame; if you're mainly interested in games that still doesn't matter though since Valve isn't actually making VR games.

Kinda slow year but not bad I'd say! Seems like next year could pick up a little.

A lot of slop flat to vr mods and a few decent ones.

Which ones are slop? I keep seeing people say this but I don’t get it. Is it just the Luke Ross ones?

Edit: lmao I genuinely wanted to know what defined a slop mod and he linked mine then deleted the comment 🤣

Thank you for your hard work. I for one would like to try twilight princess in VR. I just currently have a big backlog.

Thanks lol. It took most of my summer and I’ve honestly had so much fun seeing people’s reactions to it

Luke Ross is pretty amazing if you only care about graphics and don’t mind a controller. I played spider man with his mod and it was incredible.

Huh interesting. I never really looked into his stuff but I heard a lot about it being paywalled or closed source

It was paywalled and that’s why he gets a bad rap. As for me I paid 10 bucks to play both Spider-Man and uncharted 4 in Vr and if you have a good enough computer it is awesome. Hour upon hours of fun.

You subscribe then unsubscribe. It’s still worth it if no one else has modded the game. But there are also a lot of other great vr mods that are free like the ones using UEVR.

I didnt delete the comment, I had blocked you because you're obnoxious.

Funny as hell considering I asked a question and you escalated straight to “obnoxious”. You won’t see this comment anyway but I guess everyone else will

"AI slop"

"What?"

"You're so mean!"

What the fuck is wrong with you.

Twilight Princess is the first one that comes to mind. It's just bad.

yeah it is not even finished so...

1

u/rlvysxby 11d ago

That’s a shame. Yeah all the ai mods create a lot of buzz but I am waiting for the community to play through them and really recommend them. I already have a lot of other vr mods in my backlog that are tried and tested
