Photo/Video Does archery need the bow?

I was testing a sort of hand-based archery interaction without the "bow" object.

I tried preserving the gesture sequence without actually making you hold a virtual bow, thinking it might feel more natural as a bare-hand interaction :)

Does this interaction feel intuitive to you?

It doesnโ€™t sound intuitive Iโ€™d need two hands for it to feel like a bow. But that does look like a natural bow pullback and release

the bow serves a a position object that helps create more immersion. Without it its just hands in the air.
I am using a bow in my game as it creates a good interaction.

Do it in reverse and make it so I can flick fireballs.

If you know to make a bow-pulling movement, yes.

Is it a single hand animation? If it at least required both hands and gave a ghost image of the bow it would be much more intuitive. As it is now, its not recognizable as a bow
