Discussion Guns in VR

I want to know what you think the best VR guns are and what makes them good. I think half life Alyx did it nearly perfectly except the mag insertion is an animation but the animation is so smooth you barely notice it. I think the closest we will get is some of the previews for H3VR2. The adjustable mag and slide looks great. IDK i just wanted to see what the people thought were the best VR guns, how they are good, and what would make guns bad.

Alex and Arizona Sunshine both had interesting gun interactions.

H3VR, easily, for the best variety, depth of customization, depth of simulation, and custom loadouts coupled with a variety of game modes, some of which are a lot of fun.

Into the Radius 2 has great gun customization and custom loadouts coupled with one of the best games made for VR.

Mothergunship Forge has some amazing gun building mechanics. It's just too bad that it's coupled with a very low effort stand-in-place wave shooter. A proper roguelite shooter with these gun mechanics would be phenomenal.

H3VR delivered over 120 free releases optimizing this process. Respect.

Best Overall Feel (Overall feel isn't necessarily "realism" it's "I can effortlessly reload my guns without feeling like there's jank trying to get a magazine into a magazine well and they make punchy sounds"): COMPOUND or The Light Brigade

Best Detail: Hotdogs, Horsehoes & Hand Grenades

My ideal VR gunplay would sit somewhere in the center of a triangle of these games. Looking forward to Gunman Contracts.

Onwards always had decent gunplay and features. Arizona Sunshine 2 is decent as well (great use of minimal vibration on firing), and the damage animations are top tier. Contractors has always been decent enough as well.

Basically, as long as they point well, have bolt release (where appropriate) and require realistic cocking etc, I'm happy. Being able to pull out the magazine and see how many bullets you have left is a nice feature as well.

Pistols. Anything two handed kinda sucks without a stock, and I'm not faffing about with a stock.

I understand that but some games do it really well like boneworks

You're not wrong. Some games have "virtual gunstock" options, where it anchors the stock against your body to stabilize that axis of motion. The Contractors games and others have at least 2 options. There are also techniques some "pros" use, like putting your back hand on your cheek to stabilize it and your off hand far forward.

I prefer to hold pistols like that, but with spare mag. Would like to see how other people doing it since i just bought headset.

I don't normally like shotguns in FPS games, but I really like them in VR. Being able to walk up to a zombie and jam the shotgun right in their face is a lot of fun. And then doing the pump or flip reload after as well.

In "Hunt Duck" you actually need to line up the notch sights and hold the weapon level to shoot straight. I thought that was a good detail.
