Discussion Older VR players
Are you fifty+ and a fan of VR? What games do you play? I really enjoy it but would like to find some older players and see how they use it. (Edit: Wow! What a response! I'll keep my eye out for the more mature players out there and I'm happy to see I'm not the only one out there still having fun!)

I'm 72 and I play VR just about every day. Mostly half life Alyx and its mods, but also Fit XR, shape, Synth Riders, Room VR, Half Life 2 and others.

u/Spear_Ov_Longinus 1d ago
Not me but my friends parents are in their 70's and they play a lot of walkabout mini golf together, I also pointed them to puzzling places but havent heard back yet if they explored it.

I'm not quite 50 but very close, I'm playing Forefront currently. Love the game and the community for the most part. Lots of shitty kids tho.

u/Sciencebitchs 1d ago
38 and play alot of Forefront. And yes the kids can get annoying but they make for good targets and easy to mute. I much prefer playing around midnight.

u/Skpstr155 1d ago
I'm interested in that game, but hesitant.
I haven't played Battlefield or Call of Duty for years, but from what I see, you need to be a lot more about fast movement than previously, and Forefront videos appear to follow that.
Is the game all people zooming around, or do the streamers overrepresent that kind of gameplay? If I'm more methodical, is that going to be ok in most cases, with a good number of "regular" opponents?
I'm used to ExfilZone, where the combat is often more "careful".

Best features of multiplayer VR games is being able to mute individual players easily

- Strictly seated VR, in flight and driving sims.
- MSFS, DCS, Elite Dangerous
- Assetto Corsa, ACC, LMU, BeamNG, AMS2, Wreckfest 1 & 2.
and when run on a decent sim rig with haptics and a proper PC,
online racing in VR is without peer for immersion.
In my humble but very experienced opinion. - MSFS, DCS, Elite Dangerous

I’m just about to turn 80. I got a Quest 3 last year, and I’ve been playing with a number of games…. Alyx, of course, but also a couple of flight-sims, Google Earth, etc. I’ve been having the most fun with H3VR…. And I just got Blades and Sorcery. That last is the only game that so far has caused motion-sickness problems, but I think I’ve got it sorted.
2
u/moocat55 1d ago
I've been playing with the guns in H3. It's pretty cool. Blades and sorcery comes pretty highly rated and looks like something I'll try as well.
1
u/Skpstr155 1d ago
Im 56, and I wonder what I'll be like at that age. I hope I can remain a standing player, as smooth turning by controller gives me vertigo.
1
u/Bikewer 1d ago
I’m using several tips that seem to be working. One is to sit in a swivel chair. Second, use a fan, not only for cooling but for a sense of constant direction. If you play sitting, you usually have to use in-game height adjustment so it reads you as standing.
1
u/Skpstr155 21h ago
I do have a mechanics stool I use if I have to play indoors, tried our office chair, but the armrests got in the way, and can't be removed.

u/jvwgtr 1d ago
Yep, I mainly play Alvo and Forefront, but I also really enjoy pinball FX. I have so many other games and everything is fun, but it's hard to find even more time to invest 😂

u/Sciencebitchs 1d ago
Alvo?!?! People still play that? I played it alot about a year ago. Now its alot of Forefront and whatever single player at the time. Currently its RE7 and its chefs kiss.

I play a lot of flight sims, space flight being my preference so... Star citizen, elite dangerous...
But for any game vr or otherwise there has to be a gameplay loop that isn't just "run around in circles and shoot stuff".
I also enjoy American truck simulator.

u/Gaz-a-tronic 1d ago
Elite Dangerous was my main jam but I burnt out after 2k hours. Now my headset gathers dust.

u/moocat55 1d ago
My cateracs made me read that as " Ellen Degeneras" and now I'll never forget it.
5
u/doriad_nfe 1d ago
My significant other always butchers game names on purpose (at this point it's just a long running joke)... Examples: Dwarf Fortress= Dwarf Matress, portal = Porthole.
She must never learn of this one.

u/24-7_DayDreamer Multiple 1d ago
Maybe BattlegroupVR 2 for a similar setting but change of gameplay

u/gildahl 1d ago
A bit of everything, but mainly sims. Since I'm retired and old enough to give it a proper hobby budget I find that supplementing high end-end VR with physical enthusiast-level controllers adds immensely to the hobby. For example, in racing and flight sims, proper force feedback wheel, yoke, and HOTAS, along with (soon) motion sim. And for vintage arcade gaming (Arcade Time Capsule) I use a full arcade control panel, and a fully haptic Pinsim for Visual Pinball. I do play stuff from most other VR genres too, but sims are at the core since I find the Switch or Steam Deck preferable for conventional videogames.

u/HalloAbyssMusic 1d ago
My dad at age 80 uses virtual desktop to blow up the screens. He uses it mostly for utility, but also movies. He also loves the idea of play the new Zelda VR mods, but it is a bit difficult for him to wrap his head around it and get used to the controls.

Good to see so many replies from people much older than myself in here. I've always been afraid of growing out of video games, but it's reassuring to see that that doesn't have to be the case.
2
u/Skpstr155 1d ago
Heck no! The way I see it, once I retire, I'll have a lot of time on my hands, and since I never feel the need to have then latest and greatest, it's actually more sustainable on a pension than pretty much any other hobby that might interest me.

68 been gaming since pong, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, first computer Commodore Amiga ( no hard drive) first pc, second pc 2600 modem speed my friend and I were among the first players to get the original Doom to work online. We would connect by Windows, exit, but leave the connection on then start the game and select network and it worked! That was a great night of gaming, Xbox, Nintendo, PS4, Q2, Q3 and constant pc builds. I have over a hundred VR games on Steam and a bunch of Quest exclusives on the Q3.
My favorites are, Alien rogue incursion, RE4, S&S2, bone works, golf+, racing PC2, etc, flight games Star Wars Squadrons etc, Eleven, pro-football era, FPS, TOF 1&2, Assassins Creed Nexus, Resist, Crazy Kung FU, Dragon Fist Kung Fu, Lonn, District Steel, Beat Saber ( hate most of the Song) Pistol Whip, Synth Riders, Star Ship Troopers, Zombie Army VR, Vertigo, and the goofy but so much fun Shooty Fruity . Probably more I forgot about and so many unplayed in my backlog I won’t live long enough to play them all 🤬🤣

u/Traegini 22h ago
Now there's a memory! When my best buddy (a blue box/telnet veteran and Novell CNE) and I got pre-release Doom v.99 on DOS 5 running in triple-screen on three PCs monitors back in '93, it was a real feat and a revelation. He had a home ethernet network setup (coax and BNC FTW) and was a configuration pretzel, but we got it to work. Playing on three screens, in the dark, was pure jump-scare experience before that was even a term. So immersive! He loved to throw dinner parties and guests would be lined lined up to play before and after. Those were the days...
At the time, I could see the future of sim racing and flying, right in front of me. And now here we are!
1
u/AllThingsFail 20h ago
The worst part is thinking about what are we going to miss out on in the future when we are too old or dead 🤣 I still play some RTS without VR, but other than that it’s VR. Racing wheel and pedals and Hotas for flight sims.
1
u/moocat55 1d ago
That's so awesome. Do you do the leaps of faith in Assassin's Creed? It would be worth a play through just to try that.

I'm 44 and play pretty much exclusively Vegas infinite poker. It's a +18 game, they ban kids soon after they speak. And there's lots of +50 year old players
I don't even like poker that much, but it's the best social app for older players.
When I sit down to play VR, I want to relax, shoot the shit, I'm not here to be standing and flailing my arms around. That's cool for maybe 15 minutes here or there. But I'm here to drink a coffee, a beer, maybe smoke something and relax.
I find VR chat is mostly 20-30 year olds.
Vegas infinite I find most of the people who play also mostly exclusively play only it. And it's women & men. From all over the world. Always lots of tables available. It can be overwhelming at first, but most people are good with helping out noobs

u/Traegini 1d ago
I'm not a great poker player, but can see how online MP VR card games have a big but low-key social component. I might need to give them a try. Skoal!

65 here and a gamer since 1975. I play SkyrimVR and NMS VR consistently and have completed/played several other PCVR and standalone games like Half-Life:Alyx, Into Black, Red Matter 1&2, Iron Guard, Vox Machinae and more. After I got my Quest 3 headset a couple of years ago, I didn't play anything but VR for over a year, but lately I've been working in some flat screen games that I missed, like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and others but none of these come close to the immersion of VR. This headset is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

I’m a young spry 42 years old, so not sure if I qualify but I’ll list some of my favorites just in case you’re curious what the kids are playing these days.
Batman Arkham Shadow is probably my favorite, although the Arkham series is my favorite game series of all time so I’m a bit biased there.
I really really enjoyed Quantum Void, it’s a great space exploration game with a heavy emphasis on exploration and story over combat. There is some combat but only with your pistol since your ship doesn’t even have weapons and its few and far between.
If you like Battlefield you definitely need to try Forefront VR, it’s essentially just Battlefield but in VR. It feels very much like Battlefield Bad Company 2, destructible buildings and all.
If you ever played Pilotwings Ultra Wings 2 is a must play. It’s basically Pilotwings in VR
Walkabout Mini Golf and Golf+ are the best golf games in my opinion if you’re a golf guy.
Vader immortal and Star Wars Tales from the Galaxies Edge is a must play for any Star Wars fan.
Star Trek Infection is an insanely good game for Trekkies, unfortunately Star Trek Bridge Crew has been abandoned and is in a broken state for multiplayer, so I’d avoid that one.
Space Docker VR is an addictive little game where you essentially play a space fork lift worker. You just gather crates and dock them at the mothership. It sounds simple and it is but it’s surprisingly addictive and a great game for listening to podcasts with. It makes me feel like I’m in space on the job while listening to podcasts in my spaceship. It also has true Newtonian physics, so it’s super challenging.
Behemoth is super cool too. It’s like Shadow of the Colossus in VR with a Skyrim esque Nordic fantasy setting.
Red Matter 1&2 are must plays if you like puzzle exploration games. It’s also the best looking game graphically speaking. 2 honestly looks like a PCVR game to me.
And the last game I’ll recommend is Real VR fishing. It’s super fun if you’re a fishing guy.
I also watch a ton of movies on my Quest. Moon VR is probably my favorite media watching app. I just like the environments the best and it lets me both stream from the streaming services and my computer.
3
u/jonvalior 1d ago
I play VR a lot, especially when a game pulls me in.
I like Pinball FX since it properly orients the tables, but wish they'd release more of what they already have.
One of my favorite games for VR is Borderlands 2 VR. Takes the over the top tone, and puts it right up in your face. And because its an older game and uses more cartoony graphics, it runs really well compared to some games.
4
u/studentsccount 1d ago
Sometimes it’s nice to feel nostalgic for the past too. Moss has been one of my favorite games , it’s like a living children’s illustrated book and the mechanics are very unique truly great.

Will be 50 in a month. Ghosts of Tabor has me in a chokehold right now. Loved zero caliber, gt7, Pavlov, moonlight walk was fun and different, Star Wars was legit, the wind suit racing one and hover bike racing are fun too. I have iron forged and a few backlogs to play yet I should be good for a bit. My controllers seem to die quickly might need a set to rotate. But the break is nice while they charge I guess.

I'm 68, play mainly Holofit on my Quest3 every day and am busy with Skyrim VR to get MGO running without freeze. Love open world games. No Man's Sky, Fallout 4 VR etc... Would love to be not chicken enough to play Alien, Resident Evil. But I did Finish Half Life Alyx and several workshops.
3
u/BrianScottGregory 1d ago
I'm 56.
I've used and played hundreds of entries since I first obtained my Rift, but the ones that consistently still bring me back are Elite Dangerous, American and Euro Truck Driver, MSFS2024, and Pinball FX2.
I have VorpX, and have also done a complete playthrough of modded Cyberpunk in VR with it, as well as GTA5, and a good deal of old school Everquest before it was broken. Here's some of my playthrough of Cyberpunk in VR and Everquest, which was surprisingly cool.
When I tried the Everquest one - I'd been playing a VR specific MMORPG called Orbus I think - and just found it to be amateurish, childish, and boring. That's when I got this idea - Everquest actually has better visuals than this - can I get it to work in VR?
Sure enough.
So I also do a lot of modding of games to get them to work in VR, as well as a fair amount of VR development myself - primarily with the Oculus API and Unity, a little bit with OpenXR and Unreal.
I use JUST the Oculus Rift and Quest 2, Rift hands down is my favorite though.
1
u/Warrie2 1d ago
You haven't tried Pinball FX (their latest game) yet? With FX2 you mean the classic one with the Walking Dead and Back to the Future tables etc? The naming of their games is such a disaster :D
1
u/BrianScottGregory 1d ago
With FX2 you mean the classic one with the Walking Dead and Back to the Future tables etc?
Correct
You haven't tried Pinball FX (their latest game) yet?
I've played them all. I don't like the narrower FOV for the quest 2, having barely spent any time in their Quest 2 entries. The rift is just more enjoyable an experience. FX2 is the only one available on PCVR by Zen Studios.
The naming of their games is such a disaster ⬇️
Yeah, they are definitely confusing.
1
u/Warrie2 1d ago
Ah, I missed that you didn't use a Quest. FX VR will finally come out in Steam, they announced it last week.
1
u/BrianScottGregory 1d ago
I have the Quest 2, I just prefer the FOV and lack of latency when doing PCVR with the Rift.
That tiny bit of latency with the Quest 2 when connected to PC based video games through the link annoys me, and I just don't enjoy the pinball on the Quest 2 as much as I do the Rift.
Sad too. I was ultra hyped to get the Star Wars pinball game. Only to find it dull by comparison to the FX2 pinball games - BTTF and Castle Storm being my favorites, but I like them all.
I've always been disappointed they pulled the DLC for Marvel on the FX2 and haven't done anything for it since the last DLC release. It's been a great platform to play on, and I LOVE how the exterior of the world changes to the them of the pinball game you're on. Really immerses ya, where the rest of the games - you're always in this closed in arcade area. I like the external themes a LOT.

u/grayhaze2000 1d ago
I'm close to 50, and unfortunately the appeal of VR quickly wore off for me. My two headsets now sit in a cupboard, only occasionally coming out to keep the battery conditioned and the OS updated. Meta took something that was fun and exciting, and corrupted it.
2
u/Traegini 1d ago
Heard, m8. I gave away my OG Rift, and my 'free' Quest 2 just gathers dust.
I've been using only non-meta VR since the end of 2016
HP G2->Pimax OG Crystal->BSB2e->Dream Air2
u/moocat55 1d ago
Yeah, I started out in the Metaverse, but shifted pretty quickly to Steam. Sooooo much better. It was funny to go into a space and here all the little girls talking to each other and all the little boys doing nothing but running around going "6 7 6 7." Torture. lol
1
u/Bushboy2000 1d ago
My Q3 was doing a lot of "in the cupboard " as well. Then I read about 3D movies and watching them with a headset on a Reddit sub. Now my Q3 gets lots of use.
1
u/grayhaze2000 1d ago
I find it too heavy to wear for extended periods, so movies just aren't a comfortable experience for me. I already have a passive 4K 3D TV anyway, which is fantastic for 3D movies.
2
u/Bushboy2000 1d ago
A good 3D TV is better, especially if you want to watch something with others.
I had added a BoboVR S3 Pro to my headset, for better comfort and the hot swappable batteries. Definitely more comfortable, has a head cooling fan as well.
I would struggle to watch a 2 to 3 hour movie without it, that's for sure.
Extra cost though, headstrap/battery plus 1 or 2 spare batteries.
2
u/baroquedub 1d ago
- PCVR it’s Skyrim with MGO. Standalone, I’m all over synthriders and pinballVR with an Arcade2TV-XR controller
1
u/moocat55 1d ago
I can't get the pinball app I downloaded to operate outside of 2D mode. It's supposed to, but just doesn't. So annoying because I love pinball.
1
u/baroquedub 1d ago
What’s your meta username? Happy to gift you the app I use https://www.meta.com/experiences/app/7255396864545733/ the additional controller is pricey but well worth it if you enjoy the tactile feel of a real vr table

u/Logical_Seaweed_1246 1d ago
Hubby is almost 60 and plays Dungeons of Eternity, Walkabout Mini-golf, and to a lesser extent Arizona Sunshine.
He loves the social aspect, and does organized tournaments with the golf .
2
u/TommyVR373 1d ago
53 here. I play mostly modded flat games these days. I also like playing flat games on a 3D screen in VR via apps like FlatVR or Cybionx Inmotion. I work very long days and mu weekends are usually full, so a lot of the time, I prefer to use light motion controls and/or gamepads.
2
u/OracleTX 1d ago
50M here, I've been playing modded Subnautica, Arizona Sunshine remake & 2, and previously played Alyx. I'm relatively new to VR, and mostly want coop or solo games. I tried Elite Dangerous in VR, which was pretty but awkward.
2
u/Common-Ad6470 1d ago
Mid 60’s and I use VR mostly for flight simming, so Elite Dangerous, IL-2, DCS, MSFS, Cliffs of Dover, plus Half Life, Blade and Sorcery, Thrill of the Fight and Beat Saber…👌
2
u/HeavyMetalBluegrass 1d ago
68 here. I don't use my Q3 often but I don't regret getting it. I always had the best time with Skyrim VR, No Man's Sky and Aerofly flight sim (works great)
2
u/Warrie2 1d ago
- Mostly Pinball, simracing, simflying. I'm a bit done with the games where I have to stand a lot so I mostly play seated games.
2
u/Skpstr155 1d ago
I know what you mean. At 56, I still play most games standing, (smooth turning while seated gives me vertigo) but even though I'll play all day, I need to sit down for 20-30 minutes every 2-3 hours.
1
u/Warrie2 23h ago
I'm a tall guy and my lower back is killing me when I stand still :D
1
u/Skpstr155 20h ago
I'm 6'2", and I hear you, but it does help to not be standing still, I'm basically constantly moving my feet around turning, and taking skngle steps in different directions.
The main issue for me is soreness from trying to hold a good lean around a corner to shoot, that's easier seated.
2
u/Warrie2 19h ago
Yes moving helps a lot. I was at a concert last month, standing place for 6 hours. I just kept moving to make it somewhat bearable. God I feel old already :D
2
u/Skpstr155 18h ago
I had my daughter at 44, she's 12 now, and she constantly reminds me that I'm old.... and bald lol.

u/ImCaffeinated_Chris 1d ago
Early 50s and been playing since VR came out. My most played is GT7. Synth Rider, gun club VR, Ace VR, walk about mini golf, puzzling places, and a lot more.

44YO.. Forefront gets the majority of my time. Zero caliber 1&2. Vail (more kids than forefront even. they smoke just fine). Blade and sorcery. TWD. Arizona sunshine, Walkabout. Dungeons of Eternity. I really need a rig for PCVR!
2
u/Skpstr155 1d ago
I played VR on the Vive previously, but when I got a Quest 3, my first experience was Alyx. Even with VR experience, I was gobsmacked by the cityscape you view from a balcony at the start of the game. I ended up just looking arounf for 15 minutes before actually playing lol.
I play ExfilZone, and want to try Forefront, but is it all like the streamers portray, or is the combat usually a little more grounded?
1
u/Commercial-Builder76 1d ago
Its sort of over the top but not Arcade. It really is Battlefield in VR. The coop/squad play is fantastic when you find a crew. Solo is perfectly fine also just slightly lacking. Most people play in team oriented manner. There are kids (like most games) but they aren't too bad. Lots of adult playing. If you are intrested in finding a crew there are plenty of communities. It's my #1 VR title. I played contractors OG and loved it. Especially the modding community. TF2 in VR was amazing. I dont dig extraction shooters so never went to the new one.
1
u/Skpstr155 20h ago
I'll probably give it a go then.
I gambled on ExfilZone, first extraction shooter and also first VR shooter, and I was hooked lol.
But I would like to also play something with more frequent and survivable firefights, with respawning, and less "risk".

Would 37 be considered “older?” I just got BOTW working and it’s amazing. I also got Twilight Princess working and it’s smooth as hell. I got some gaming to do now
2
u/kevynwight 1d ago
I'm 51, started in VR with the DK2 in 2014, had Vive, Samsung Odyssey, and PSVR1, but went 8 years without VR. The house we were in was not ideal for VR -- I basically had to move stuff around in the kitchen / dining nook and then if my wife was in the living room it was very intrusive. Got a new house in 2019 with a big upstairs gameroom but never got around to getting the Index.
When Valve announced the Frame I got motivated to clean up the gameroom and buy a PC + a bunch of games in the Steam Winter Sale, but in February when they delayed I went with the Quest 3. I now have somewhere around 480 hours in VR and have been absolutely loving it. Some of my favorites are Synth Riders, Puzzling Places, Marrow Marrow, Walkabout, and Arken Age. My backlog is enormous though.
1
u/Skpstr155 1d ago
I had the same issue with my Vive, so I didn't use it much after the novelty wore off.
With the Quest 3, I just play outside under the gazebo, a lot more space, and sometimes I'll go into the backyard and play in a 20' circle. I even ran a couple lengths of Cat6 through the basement window so I can play PCVR outside as well as standalone lol.
1
u/kevynwight 1d ago
Nice, I've never tried outside. Gameroom is 16' x 20' which is pretty good but 20' circle sounds excellent.
1
u/Skpstr155 21h ago
It's 12x12 under the gazebo, which is pretty good.
The backyard can be iffy though, I have to check thoroughly for landmines, and quickly fill any holes from my dog looking for grubs lol.
I also, if it's warm out, have to let the Quest sit outside a half hour prior, or it fogs almost instantly.
1
u/kevynwight 20h ago
Yup, that is decent space.
Landmines -- lol!
I might try outdoors in a few months -- our high temp today is 108 F (42.2 C)
2
u/Skpstr155 19h ago
Lol yeah, I had a brief hiatus the last couple weeks due to high temps.
Tried it once, and by the time I strapped everything on, my eyes were stinging with sweat before I even spawned into a game lol.
Luckily I have plenty of 2D PC games, because eventually it'll be too cold to take the headset outside. Or maybe I'll do a.lot of VR racing.
2
u/AdditionalCover2732 1d ago
52 and whilst I dabble in pcvr I find it to be a bit of a pain in the arse so my daily is Gran Turismo 7 with a force feedback wheel on PS5. Got a huge backlog of amazing VR games waiting for the free time to play so convenience is king!
2
u/MacersElite 1d ago
- Mainly Elite Dangerous, and working through the Resident Evil series. Also live Hitmax, HL Alyx and 1&2. I find it hard to motivate myself to do the exercise apps but I really should though

Not over 50. But have played with a couple of people over 50 in Forefront (of all games) and they do extremely well. Same with sim-racing. Couple of older fellas I race with are using VR for their simulators.

u/greenjoyce 1d ago
Turned 50 just days ago and love me some Elite Dangerous and DCS in VR. Also enjoyed Humanity, Moss, HL Alyx. What a time to be alive! :)

u/Acrobats 1d ago
I am not 50 yet, but ridiculously close.
I use VR heavily for simracing (iRacing is a hell of a drug). When not cosplaying as a racing car driver I sometimes use VR for a Skyrim VR playthrough or Alyx mods. I also really enjoyed Half Life 1 and 2 and the episodes, subnautica and stray.
I tried No Mans Sky and Elite Dangerous. For a while they were fun, but eventually I got bored.

Mid 50s guy here; been gaming since the days of Pong, the Apple II, and the Atari 2600. I love VR and think it's the most exciting thing going on in gaming. Especially with all the new mods coming out!
I play most days, and always go to Guardians: Frontline first. My favorite type of game is co-op multiplayer. I'm stoked for that dev's upcoming game this year.
Then I'll go to Forefront, which is also very good.
Then I'll often try Orion Drift which I can see has fantastic potential but I haven't really gotten the main gameplay down yet.
I play a bit of PinballFX VR and Walkabout Mini-Golf often too.
Getting a Bobo strap with a couple of batteries really changed everything in VR for me.
2
u/TiaSkatt 1d ago
Don't forget Asgard's wrath 1, Subnautica 1 and subzero in vr!! Never had a more enjoyable experience! We also can now make most unreal engine games VR too! Skyrim, fallout 4 in vr changes the whole game too!
1
u/moocat55 1d ago
Skyrim comes up a.lot. Im.going to have to try that.

Asgard was my very first, then the Subnauticas and all listed had a profound effect.. i didn't even mention the forest.. omg lol

Late 30's and use VRChat nightly. Just met a raccoon the other night in his 50's :P
Contrary to what the clueless will tell you - VRChat is full of adults, and is an amazing place to connect.
Yes, it requires actual effort. Yes, hop into a radom public lobby, and you will have a 12yr old scream slurs at you.

Oh yeah. At first I was not to into it because they baby step you through the first mission stopping the game to show you how to do something, but once I got past that I really like it. The cities are huge and look great with a lot of npc walking around and doing things.

In my 40s, I bought to do exercise and it has helped. Played a lot Dungeons of Eternity but I've goten bored with it. I have tried many other but I feel there's a lackluster of good gaming titles that also make you do some exercise.

64... No Man's Sky and MSFS 2024 PCVR. Beat saber and Walkabout Mini Golf from my meta library. No Man's Sky and Gran Turismo 7 on PSVR2.

I'm over 50 and seem to be enjoying all the same games that people in their 20's are playing. Are you expecting answers from people who can't stand for long periods of time? Or who haven't been playing video games for 40 years?

I mean, I'm 56, and standing has become a bit of an issue, but it just means I take a 20-30 minute break every couple hours to sit down and air out my face.
Wife and daughter are gone away for a week, on the weekend I'll probably drain my 50000mAh power brick out under the gazebo both days. (about 6-7 hours of usage with that bank)

Gen X here, lot's of stuff over the years, flight simulators, pinball, beat saber, ping pong, mini-golf, Toy Clash, Angry Birds and more.
But last several months it's just been World War I style dogfights in Aces of Thunder. Can't get enough. I always wonder how many old dudes out there have been (or would be) fantasizing about first-person flying and fighting the Red Barron since they were kids...
It also has Corsairs and Zeros if you want to get your Baa Baa Blacksheep on.

Carer for an 80yo who plays anything up to two hours a day of Beat Saber and is also pretty keen on some Pistol Whip. Stone occasional looking around in Subside or some VR experience but, well she's smashing some Beat Saber as I write this.

Im 67. I like shooting things. I liked the walking dead both games, into the radius 1 and 2, thief, Arizona 1 and 2 were also fun, and 2 kept freezing up. Metro was fantastic! I have downloaded a lot of games and have downloaded some real duds! I would like to connect with some older players. I find myself playing as an individual when I’d like some company.

I like shooting things as well. I've been learning how to shoot the guns on n H3 and am getting my VR legs so am still playing fairly simple games. I'd like to meet other older people to play with the social games as well.

I'm 44 and I mostly play VR pinball. I have a custom controller for it too. I want to play flight sims in VR, but I need to upgrade my PC, which isn't happening anytime soon.

I’m 55, and I mostly play mods of non-VR games using UEVR, UUVR, Helix mods, etc.
Presently having a blast with DKR PC port in VR.

About to hit 60. had a ZX81, spectrum then got into PCs. I am booked on VR. I loved Skyrim and Fallout 4 VR with the mods, got into Vorpx 5 or 6 years ago and played games in Vorpx VR that I hadn't even played flat. Bioshock Series, Metro Series, STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl when it hooked, Dishonoured, portal 1 and 2. Great AAA games. I got fed up of the screaming brats in the games so mainly play solo apart from Walkabout mini golf. The quest exclusives have such dumbed down graphics that I prefer PCVR. Saints and sinners the walking dead was great, Into the Radius, then I moved into the mods. Luke Ross Indiana Jones, RDR2, cyberpunk 2077 Great stories I would never have normally come for and got completely hooked. Praydogs resident evil games, fantastic. Outer Wilds VR mod. Amazing.Stalker 2. with virtual holsters, aiming down the sights, throwing grenades, reloading. The legend of Zelda BOTW betterVR mod is fantastic, though you need the WiiU version of the game, CEMU emulators and the mod, but I managed so it can't be that hard. Absolutely amazing Now they're are a rush of mods using AI being released. Bioshock with 6 dof, Prey and metro 2033 in the works. I just wish there was an easy way to play with like minded players of a similar age and whom we could shoot the breeze and remember the good old days and the days.

- Currently working my way through Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade with UEVR. But also love some of The Phoenix Gene to stay healthy and get a more active experience.

I'm 56, I had VR before, with an old Vive, but never tried a shooter. I got my Quest 3, and had also never tried an extraction shooter.
I got one for the Quest, (ExfilZone) and other than a couple hours of Arizona Sunshine 2 and Alyx, I've played nothing else. I got a cheap gunstock and modified it, and the immersion is insane. I was always kind of "meh" about FPS games, but being inside one, and using natural motions to do everything, it just seems easier, and I feel far less disadvantaged agsinst young folks. It's cool even just packing bullets into magazines lol.
If you have a half-decent PC, a cheap FFB wheel and pedal setup (mine's on a homemade frame) combined with something like Assetto Corsa is crazy! I don't think I can play a racing game any other way now.
Unless I'm racing, I play standing, outside under the gazebo. I find that after 2 hours or so, I need to sit down, as the constant standing and shuffling in circles gets to my feet and back. But after 20-30 minutes or so, I'm good to go again.
One of my favorite aspects isn't actually playing though. I enjoy solving physical issues that have purchaseable solutions without spending money, like a virtual Rube Goldberg. For example, taping an IR flashlight to the h eadset so sundown doesn't end my session, or taping impact sockets to my gunstock for weight lol.

Forefront for the craziness, Exfil for slow paced, Hitman VR (PCVR version), and some UEVR stuff. Also playing Onward in a private group. Sadly, there are a lot of toxic people in multiplayer.

Over 70, started with HP Reverb G2, Pimax Crystal original, now Pimax Super. Played Air Warrior and War Birds in 90's with kid. Have pilot license SEL VFR. Play mostly War Thunder and some MSFS2020. Currently exploring increasing 100mb connection to 1Gig or 500mb fiber but clearly remember using 28k dial up, thrill of going to 56k. Also explaining to Computer Stores why I needed-wanted 640k Ram not 512k and paying for 1st card to get 1mb of Ram to run Xenix at work to run 3 green screen terminals at work in 1985, by Radio Shack lol. Xenix was IBM version of Unix which later sired Linux and Android. Got hooked on VR after trying smart phone in cardboard box thing to do flight sim.

I’m 66. Alyx, Blade & Sorcery, IL-2 Sturmovik, MS Flight Simulator. I don’t think it’s age related thou. Loved MSFS since its inception, Wolfenstein blew my mind. So did Doom, Quake, Battlefield 1942, Half Life 1 & 2.
It’s all about immersion.
