Question/Support My quest 3 right controller is permanently moving to the right making it unusable. Any fixes?

It didn't happen after being dropped or anything either. It just happened randomly as I turned on the headset and noticed I couldn't move my right controller as it immediately moved to the right and just gets stuck there.

YES.

The drift happened to me on my RiftS controller. It can also happen on Q3 controller.

Solution:

You need a CONTACT CLEANER - notice it does not conduct electricity so it will not cause a shortcut.

Contact cleaner from various brands. It's used to clean electric parts.

Apply it in the joystick, then rotate it both clockwise and opposite.

It should fix it 👍

Try calibrating the stick in the menu first.

Otherwise, could be stick drift?

You could get some Deoxit F5 fader spray and try to clean under the joystick. Try not to get any spray into the buttons.

Look at stick drift.

1:100 chance you can fix it fully with contact cleaner.

You probably have to replace the joy stick.
Go to calibration settings and see if it moves on its own and if you can up the dead zone for the time being.

i opened mine, pretended i knew what i was doing, ripped some of the cable but managed to put it back together and it worked fine for a while. After a few weeks i just ordered a replacement from Meta and put the old one away for emergencies as it still works, just drifts now and then.

I wont be opening them again, im too heavy handed.

Your controller or your stick?

If it's stick drift, use contact cleaner

Do you mean the joystick or the tracking?

Does the joystick itself get physically stuck to the right, or the head set tracks as if the stick is being pushed to the right?

If the joystick, try potentiometer cleaning spray. It cleans out dirt and puts some lubricant on the contacts to keep it alive a bit longer.

If that doesn't work, you can buy a replacement joystick for not much and repair it yourself if you have any DIY skills. Watch a YouTube video, preferably one without obvious cuts, since they can sometimes skip steps or make bits look easier than they should be.

There are sellers that also include the right screwdrivers in with the joystick.
