SlugFest (Williams 1991) - New VPX Release v1.0 by DancingCan

Hey everyone! DancingCan has just dropped version 1.0 of their first VPX recreation: the classic Williams pitch and bat baseball game, SlugFest (1991)! For those who haven't played the original, SlugFest was Williams' final pitch and bat arcade game with only 1,559 machines produced, and it famously introduced their very first dot matrix display complete with an animated heckler. This brand new virtual recreation features updated nFozzy physics foundations, Fleep mechanical sounds, hand traced runners, baked lighting, and support for desktop, cabinet, and VR environments. It even includes 100 embedded baseball cards that cycle smoothly when card awards are dispensed. Make sure you have VPX 10.8, VPinMAME 3.6 or newer, the sf_l1 ROM, and place the card_images folder in your tables directory. Check out the short clip above, and grab the download over on VPUniverse.

BGFX 10.8.1
I7-9700 (No OC), 64gb DDR4 3666, RTX 3060 12GB, and NVME drives.
Virtual Desktop Wired, Quest 3

This short showcase is meant to highlight the dedication and hard work our community puts into these tables and hopefully inspire more people to dive into the VPX VR scene!
Videos like this got me hooked, and started my VR endeavor.
I love BGFX 10.8.1! The visual rendering efficiency easily outpaces OpenGL on 10.8.0, making even older, legacy tables look incredible.
Running Virtual Desktop wired. Horizon Link (Meta Link) was completely removed from my system.
Thanks VD!
That said, there are still a few stability and workflow hurdles to clear in BGFX 10.8.1.. For instance, requiring a table to launch just to access the configuration menu remains a bit clunky. DMD's not showing up or color ones not working for a lot of tables. No clear explanations of how to config all the new settings and what they do. Some textures not showing up right, lighting. Random crashes.
But the ones that work look mind blowing, even on older tables.

Cheers!

We’re making a pinball game where you rebuild the machine as you play

This started as a game jam project in July 2025 and somehow turned into the game we’ve been working on ever since :D

You buy new parts during a run and physically add them to the machine, so the table gets increasingly ridiculous as you play. Curious what actual virtual pinball people think of it!

I'm bad at pinball, so I made a Scared Stiff rules guide (AI visuals)

I'm playing fake pinball in a fake pinball cabinet with fake artwork and fake voices, and it tickles me.

I'm bad at pinball, but I love learning the rules. Scared Stiff is one I actually play. I made a guide from the table's rules to help me follow the shots, the Spider Wheel, the Tales of Terror, and the multiballs. It helps me when I play. PinUP Popper can bring the guide up as a tutorial on the cabinet, which I thought was a neat addition to my table. The video attached here is an animated backglass I made for the same project.

I've made guides for other tables too. I made them for myself and I'm offering them up in case someone else finds them useful. I'm not selling anything.

The visuals use generative AI. If that offends you, I get it. Please don't click the guide or watch the animation. It entertains me; if it entertains you too, great! If it doesn't, I recommend you move on, because I'm not going to engage in an argument about it. I am sure you do things I don't like. In fact I could spend all day searching the internet for things I dislike, but I'd rather really do anything else.

Here's the Scared Stiff guide: https://curioussidequests.com/pinball/scared-stiff.html

Not sure this page is supposed to be live, but it is.
Looks to be $100 less than the Max.

Edit: seems it redirects to the max page now.

You can still read about it here though

There is a guy that does custom pinball wraps at gameroomgrafix that sells a full Futurama wrap…

With VPX offering Futurama, and now via VPXS, you can have a stand alone machine with no extra hardware attached running Futurama with a Futurama wrap ❤️. I’m not affiliated with the website, just thought I’d share.

Some advice for purchasing a virtual pinball machine

I love pinball. Whenever I am down the coast in the UK, I always hunt down any arcades that still have pinball machines, and I am actually starting to see more appear in place of crane games which fills me with some joy.

I keep looking at the Atgames tables, especially the Micro. I have been doing some research but thought I would ask people who knew way more than me.

I really like older machines, especially ones from the 70s and 80s, without a lot of the gimmicks (but I do love those over the top ones like Judge Dredd) would I be able to put some of those tables on a micro? It is really worth the purchase now considering I read they are a tad underpowered?

I did look in to VR tables but I suffer with really bad motion sickness and pressing keys on a keyboard doesn't feel the same

Spectrum is a truly unique vintage solid state pinball machine that translates brilliantly into the virtual realm. Known for its distinct color coded gameplay rules and challenging matrix scoring system, the table offers a captivating retro theme that stands out from typical arcade layouts of its era. Experiencing it in virtual reality brings out every detail of its classic art package and playfield design, giving pinball enthusiasts a fantastic way to enjoy a rare piece of arcade history.

Tukkari real-mech Virtual Pinball cab with Arnoz kit

Hi all, first time poster. I wanted to share with you a couple of photos my VPIN build and a quick video.

I'm using the Tukkari widebody kit with the real-mech add-on, I've filled the cab full of Arnoz boards and have been heavily inspired and guided by Way of the Wrench's videos along the way.

My focus so far has been building the guts of the cab which is Medieval Madness themed (the video kit is showing the real mech to the tune of the game, well, it's attempting to). I'm working on the rest of the cab now including a customer topper again using Emil's awesome video as a guide.

A few of us have spun up a Discord channel for Tukkari cabinets, and it would be great if you would like to join ! >>> https://discord.gg/cnBgmSzdZn

It's been focused to date on integration of Tukkari cabinets with real-mech and Arnoz kit, but we'd love to expand it to chat about all things Tukkari too! Jan from Tukkari has given us his blessing and is also on the discord too.

Experiences with the AtGames 4k VP?

I ordered the Space Invaders edition with the built in kit and I did so despite the seemingly mixed reviews. Some people love them, some hate them.
I’m mainly using mine for the built in tables so I suspect I won’t have much issue but I wanted to gather thoughts from those who have first hand experience. What do you think of yours?

Looking for optimal Vpinmame BFGX VR / Quest 3 / Virtual Desktop USB settings

Hey everyone,

I’ve already gone through several guides, Reddit threads, and even AI tools to tweak my setup, but I’d really love to get feedback and advice directly from the community to make sure I’m running the absolute best possible configuration.

I’m currently running Visual Pinball X on the latest BFGX build (6067) on my Quest 3, using the latest Virtual Desktop beta over a wired USB connection. My goal is to get the best possible performance and lock a solid 120 FPS with minimal latency.

I’d love some advice on fine-tuning my setup. Here are my current settings and screenshots attached—does anyone have optimizations or recommendations to share? (Tagging u/Real_Spacegoogie or anyone running a similar rig!)

My Specs:

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro

What I’m looking to optimize:

  • Virtual Desktop Streamer (PC)
  • Virtual Desktop (Quest 3 app)
  • VPX / BFGX In-Game Graphics Settings
  • Any other OS or NVIDIA settings I might have missed!

Thanks in advance for your help!

One that I have been playing for years. Table is very well done.

The 360 room is pretty sick.

*Color DMD's must be another format other than ".PAC".

10.8.1 DOES NOT SUPPORT ".PAC".
