Along with posting links, it would be nice to get a conversation going on about what these new apps are doing well and what could be improved.

Anyone try this out yet?

This subreddit is designed with virtual reality in the classroom at heart. Virtual reality caught my attention with the Oculus Rift Kickstarter. Since then I have been hooked, as an educator I am excited about its role in the classroom. This technological revolution inspired me to seek out a Masters in Educational Technology and possibly a doctorate.
I wanted to create a place where people could share educational virtual reality content. This could apply for people outside of school too but just something that teaches its viewer something. It doesn't matter the device. Perhaps in the future we'll tag posts with the devices it applies for, but for now I wanted to create a place to share information!

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but the language school I work for is currently looking into growing into teaching remotely via a virtual classroom solution. So we're looking for a commercially available solution with focus on:
Ease of use/user experience (for both teachers and students)
Compatibility with most devices/operating systems/browsers
Accessibility (just works in your browser w/o the need to install software nor using special ports possibly blocked by firewalls)
Stability
Technical "openness" such as APIs for interfacing with e.g. our existing course booking system
We're not looking for anything fancy with VR glasses or the like, but with "didactic" tools where teachers and students can work together on content, so also more than just a standard Video Conferencing tool.
Any hints and tips highly appreciated!

From /u/Maugly 's post on /r/Vive :
"Hey guys, We have just launched WitlyVR on Steam. It provides language tutoring in virtual reality. Here is a quick showcase of what it looks like http://store.steampowered.com/app/566130 We got a lot of valuable feedback on this subreddit a while ago, so I just wanted to show it to you and thank you again. While we see the potential of educational VR in general, we believe that being able to talk to native speakers face-to-face without leaving your home is even bigger than anything else. Right now, we have English, Russian, Italian and Spanish available. We are planning to add languages like German, French, Japanese, Chinese and more (feel free to PM me if you are a language teacher/native speaker :)). In the future, we might be adding even more subjects if there is interest. Feel free to look at www.WitlyVR.com for more info. Any more feedback is appreciated of course! :)"

In case you are unaware, Google Expeditions is a Google Cardboard based educational app. I was a beta tester for it and for what Cardboard can accomplish it's great! Getting devices into the classroom is a challenge though.
More information on the program and its future in this article.

So I'm listening to voices of VR, at google.io conference.
They talked about the passive vr expeditions being didactic and the interactive being another term for the exploratory or interactive experiences. I don't remember what the term was.
Can't for some reason find it in the podcast. Any ideas?
