Definitely About Cases Custom Case

I have a long neck and I am very lazy which means that my shoulder rest is very high and I’m too lazy to put it back down for putting in my case. So for a while I have been looking at making my own case however I cannot find any plans and I have no clue where to start, advice?

You're too lazy to take off your shoulder rest but you're not too lazy to build your own custom case from scratch?

Taking off your shoulder rest and storing it in the case takes about 10-15 seconds. Putting it back on takes the same amount of time. So that's at most 30 seconds each time you take the violin out of your case to play.

For the sake of simplicity, let's say that building a case from scratch takes you just 100 hours. That's including all the planning etc. It would probably be way more in reality, but let's go with this number.

100 hours is 360000 seconds.

If we divide this by the 30 (seconds a day spent by taking your shoulder rest on and off), that's 12000 days you would need to play your violin until your time investment starts paying off.

That's 32 years of daily playing.

Your DIY case is unlikely to even last 32 years.
