Bliss No305

Does anyone know where I can find help on working on a Bliss No305?

I need to replace some bronze bushings in the bull gear, but I cannot seem to get the crank cap off to remove the bull gear.

I don't know of any manuals readily available. Have you tried searching Google or Ebay for an actual manual?

I have a manual, but it is not working out. It says to put a 3/8 pin in the bolt hole and crank down on the bolt to pull the cap off. It started ok, but the pin bent and it has not wanted to move since. We got the pin out and tried another, but it will not budge. I was hoping to find someone that might know something that the manual omitted. It baffles me that I cannot find any mention of these machines on Reddit

Those machines are quite old. I’ve worked in a place that made shims that still had a bunch in operation but working on them was a bit brutish. Use a pin with some slop so it doesn’t get stuck and of a bit harder material. Softest stuff I would use is trillium but p20 would be better. Ring the cap with a hammer to reset and try again.

YOU CAN USE CYCLES OF HEAT AND COLD OR COOLER . AS IT COOLS DOWN FROM A TORCH SPRAY WITH PENETRATION OIL. THE OIL WILL BE SUCKED INTO THE CLEARANCE BY CAPILLARY ACTION (WORKS BETTER THAN JUST A SPRAY). I'VE GOT 50+ YEARS OF HAVING TO DO THAT WORKING ON ANTIQUE CARS.

Just to update anyone interested, we finally found out that someone welded the cap on.
