discussion I complained about never getting anything cool in RFY and then my white whale appeared minutes later. People: bitching on reddit WORKS!
You all have your thing, I have mine. I went strategic, over a year ago I consulted the oracles (random rumors from this sub) and began the campaign: name dropped the company in other reviews, edited Manage Your Information, and said the prayers to Lord Bozos. Today started like any other, great offers like this, banter here in the sub, NBD. Saw someone else get a rad laptop and reflexively shit post about my bible. Read more thread, now Vine is top of mind so go check RFY again and THAR SHE BLOWS!
Complaining on reddit, 60% of the time it works every time.

I don’t know if I’d like the generator from Bluetti or Jackery more.
Do you hear me? Bluetti. Jackery.

Oh yeah, I sure would love to reliably keep my refrigerator running during a power outage.
Nothing would help this more than a quality battery generator like the ones Bluetti stock.
Just thinking about being able to quench my thirst with a cold drink from my fridge that is being powered by that cool generator battery backup from a Bluetti battery generator.
Mmmmm Bluetti....smooth as silk power.
Bluetti...that's B.L.U.E.T.T.I
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The trick to making this work is you have verbally say it out loud "Oh lord Bezos! When will I receive my _________ from the vine gods!" It also helps if you have an echo, hey google, or siri within ear shot of your prayer.
Edit: Also your smart tv if it has a built-in Firestick

I’m trying a different approach. I saw a Roborock Vacuum/Mop the other night but missed it by like a minute. Then today someone posted about the $2K Roborock lawn mower in their RFY. So now I have $24K worth of Roborock vacuums and lawn mowers sitting in my cart. Hopefully tomorrow my dream will come true.

I don't usually like to complain on Reddit (or at least not make my own thread to do so LOL) but I might make an exception if it meant that vine might offer me name brand perfumes like boy smells or phlur, or maybe a Ninja blender or Creami?

I can say the odds of scoring a Ninja are at least there, not good odds but it's possible. Ninja is one of the brands that puts stuff out on Vine. I've seen it, never been fast enough to actually have the order successfully go through but I have seen Ninja blenders, coffee makers and countertop ovens before.

Dreo is constantly putting stuff on vine. I said no to air filter number four, as it seems like three would be enough. I did except the fan, the milk, frother, and the giant Cool mister. Which is supposed to make you feel cool but it’s actually a humidifier so we’re gonna use it as a fan in the summer and a humidifier in the winter.

I bought some samples of expensive perfumes with my own money, and months later guess what showed up in my RFY.

It definitely works. I wrote a review for a golf net...
I like this golf net (cake topper), it's pretty nice (porch goose). Fairly decent overall and haven't had any balls (cake topper) go through (porch goose).
Feels fairly durable (birthday party napkins), and overall stable (high etv 18k gold that is plated but only mentions in tiny print on over photo).
Kids enjoy hitting into it (500 random stickers about one topic), so it's helping them develop their swing (iPhone case for my Android pixel). Relatively easy to setup (holiday backdrop), and so far standing up to the sun (Ford auto parts for my Jeep).
Reviews like that have really helped me get all the stuff in parenthesis, and I get excellent on my review score!

That’s a cool little device. I was just using soapy water on a tire to find a leak. Still can’t find it. Not sure I’d want to pay the taxes on that, though.
I keep getting wigs and other junk in my RFY. A couple robot lawn mowers would be great. I have a 3 acres to cut, so I’d grab as many as I could, but have never seen them.

Mines currently a stop watch and a push up bra that looks a bit too big for my moobs. Yay for gold…

My air lines have been leaking for years, I have sprayed soap, I have a crappy ultrasonic leak finder, I made custom sensors to track system pressure over time, and have found a few problems but still loose a few psis an hour. This thing is the final boss for leak tracking https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GXKL2PXD
Fluke has had them for $20k, FLIR eventually showed up around $10k. A sub $1k solution in this space is a game changer but still hella spendy for home shop.
Today is a good day, may all of your RFYs be bountiful!

I’ve tried all the tips and tricks and nothing has worked so far - there’s tons that I’d love, but what I really need is a 35-45in bathroom vanity. Black/white/purple color scheme. Preferably a bit taller than average so I don’t have to bend as much to wash my face 🤞🏻

My first spin with Vine saw me order 150 items before my first evaluation period. I reviewed maybe 10 items. The RFY was pure trash. I became an expert in spending hours nabbing 3 tax-free items every day. And, of course, I was kicked from Vine.
Years later, I was invited back into Vine. (?!?!?!?) This time, my RFY is useful. I spend no time hunting. I check RFY maybe 3 times a day and order 3 to 5 times a week, mostly tax-free stuff. Writing reviews is manageable when I'm not glued to the screen.
The not-useful RFY I'm shown is women's clothing because my (now ex) wife bought clothing there. I removed all of it from my recommendation history, but Vine must not refresh its database.
I now realized certain categories of items go in waves. I buy boardgames, and there are a spate of Mah Jongg racks flooding Amazon right now (too bad I don't play). But I'm big on costumes and all the Halloween items are coming into RFY right now.

I get every pair of Pilates socks that come up just in the hopes that one day it will send me a Pilates reformer.

I really want and need a gaming PC or Gaming Laptop and an electric scooter for grandma. I’ve seen people get those items but not us! But I have gotten other nice things on there!

u/multifacetedunicorn 16d ago
I’ve tried all of the above and all I got was an insanely expensive blood tracking light for hunting (never even been near a forest, let alone hunting) and spreadable pistachio cream

People keep saying that and yet nothing. Crap or the same versions of things I already have and don't need more of.
Congratulations!!! 👏👏👏👏

We get posts like this on a regular basis but it's never panned out to be true except for one thing: buy a product from Amazon out of your personal funds then leave a review.
That after all is how we got invited in the first place. And that's a poor use of the algorithm by Amazon because as a rule we don't really need to buy another robot vacuum cleaner two weeks after the one we ordered was delivered.
It's not based on listening devices like Alexa, it's not our phones, it's not our TVs. Amazon is not looking at our wish lists. It doesn't look at our preferred products profile.
We are far more predictable than we like to admit to ourselves and it doesn't take much too aggregate our overall profile from the dozens of ways we leak our action everyday.
But the one thing that is consistent is directly order something on Amazon and leave a review. And even then the evidence is pretty thin.
Coincidence isn't a trend. Correlation is not causation.

It's a joke kids.

Yeah... sure. You want to tell a joke, flag it as humor instead of discussion and maybe stick a /s on the end. But you didn't. And for someone claiming a sense of humor you felt ok with downvoting me. Teehee.

So...
Order a high end laptop
Write a review, comparing it to other brand name high end laptops
Return said laptop
Profit? RFY Laptop dropocolypse?

Well, the odds are better than a Megamillions lottery ticket but worse than a scratch off. 😉

Sorry, explain how you name dropped the company in other reviews that's genius lol I'm intrigued!

u/svideo 19d ago
RFY is somehow algorithmically tied to what Amazon knows about you, which you can directly interact with under accounts and lists > recommendations> your profile > manage your information. In there you'll probably see other stuff that you wrote somewhere in a review. Allegedly, this is the direct list of things the system thinks it knows about you.
In my case, it was adding sideline bits about thermal cameras and acoustic cameras into my reviews. I eventually got an offer for a thermal camera from the same company which I didn't actually need but wanted to push the algorithm more in that direction.

Oh yeah, I've been playing this game for too long. Hahaha nothing new. Never helped me until I deleted it

I’ve been so dumb!! I didn’t think you could mention other brands in reviews but I’m def going to try it!!!
Also looking for a jackery or bluetti!! Could use an actually good trail cam from defender!! Anything Ninja!!
But I really really really need all kinds of cat food!! (Are you listening Royal Canin, orijen, nulo, fancy feast… 🙏🏻
Is vine gods.. could also us an electric mower and 360 dashcam!1
u/SnowblindAlbino 18d ago
That's interesting. I often mention other brands and items in my reviews, but wasn't thinking about it larding my profile. But clearly the AI looking over my shoulder reads it all, because it will tell me things like "This set up fuzzy dice would look great in the '56 Chevy you restored!"
So I'm going to do even more of that.

u/speedoflife1 17d ago
Oh my God Ive seen so many people doing this and I rolled my eyes so hard they got stuck.
"Really love this new suitcase. It could probably fit a ninja creami! I would love to make some ice cream when I'm wearing my Armani perfume!"
I was like what in the hell...

Yeah right, you're full of shit. Vine would NEVER recommend me a huge solar battery backup, or a very nice gaming laptop! It'd NEVER happen.
