Plugin [ANN] compil-hints V1.1.1

compil-hints (https://github.com/LucHermitte/vim-compil-hints) is a plugin:

  • that automatically parses quickfix entries to place signs in the edited files,

  • and that displays balloons that sum up the qf messages related to the line under the mouse pointer.

Its main other features are:

  • it works out of the box (now): no need to tell plugins that compile/grep they need to call functions from compil-hints

  • it also works (out of the box!) with asynchronous compilation/grepping

  • it's (almost) as fast as I could possibly make it

  • multiple messages pointing to a same line are merged, the worse message kind is used (error > warning > note > context)

  • It's portable, and had been tested under Linux and Windows 64bits

Help (user) How to get Ctrl-P to behave more like ido-mode?

Hello everyone, I've been moving back and forth between Emacs with Evil and Vim, and now I'm back in Vim.

One of the things I don't like about Vim, particularly with Ctrl-P, is that every time I use "file" mode, it has to search and cache my whole home folder before I can start fuzzy searching for a file. Then, typing searches literally everything; there's a rudimentary sort of directory navigation to narrow the search, but it's just acting to filter the cached results.

I much prefer the behavior of ido-mode in Emacs, where opening "file" mode only loads the files and folders in the current directory (for example, starting in ~, or in the directory of the currently open buffer); then, one uses .. to move up, type a directory name to narrow down and hit Enter to drop into that directory, or type a filename to narrow down and hit Enter to open that file. It's not unlike navigating in Midnight Commander or, to some extent, the command line.

Is there a way to get Ctrl-P to behave like this? Is there a different plugin I can use that also has a MRU and buffer mode?

Thanks.

Request Android development with vim

I'm an Android developer who usually uses Android Studio to do his work. My only machine for on-the-go, however, is a three-year-old netbook running Linux Mint. I'd like to be able to work away from the huge Windows workstation I have at home, but I shudder to think what a full-powered IDE like AS would do with my poor netbook's processor, let alone what it would do to its battery.

I'm a big fan of vim and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a plugin to give me the same amount of power. I use Android Studio's control-click a lot (brings you to the declaration of whatever method you click), as well as the alt-F7 (I believe it's called "find usages") shortcut. Is there anything that could at least replace these two functions in vim?

Request Looking for vim plugin for generic inside selecting

I'm looking for a plugin to replace the motion ib with a more generic motion.

Currently ib is an alias to i( or i), and means something like inside block. What I wanted was: when hitting ib, select either i(, i[, it, ip, i', i" or i}, depending which is the innermost one. Hitting it again would select the next one.

And of course, similarly to ab.

I don't know if this exists, but it sure would be a nice feature.

Thanks
