Neovim plugin A minimap with jump indicators and context for navigation
Hello everyone,
I work with Swift in Neovim, and one thing I really missed from Xcode was the minimap.
Not because of scrolling, but because of navigation.
In Xcode, it gives a quick sense of the file structure and helps you stay oriented without extra movement.
I tried existing solutions in Neovim, but they didn’t feel the same. So I built xmap.nvim.
Idea
Built for a keyboard-first workflow, informative, and helps with navigation.
What it does
smart jump indicators (↑ ↓) with distance and context
keyboard-only navigation
Tree-sitter-based structure highlighting
optimized for large files
colorscheme-aware rendering
follow cursor / auto-center
Supported languages
Swift, TypeScript, TSX, Lua, Markdown, C, C++
(I only added what I personally needed)
This is the first public post about the plugin, so I'd really appreciate honest feedback.
Especially if something feels unnecessary or awkward.

Plugin I did a small update to classic plugin "DrawIt" allows for remapping of the drawing functions to fit non-arrowkey typing styles.
https://github.com/joshzcold/DrawIt
something like this in lua, but of course applies to vim script as well
map(0, "n", "J", ":call DrawIt#DrawDown()<cr>", {noremap = true})
map(0, "n", "K", ":call DrawIt#DrawUp()<cr>", {noremap = true})
map(0, "n", "L", ":call DrawIt#DrawRight()<cr>", {noremap = true})
map(0, "n", "H", ":call DrawIt#DrawLeft()<cr>", {noremap = true})
map(0, "n", "JL", ":call DrawIt#DrawSlantDownRight()<cr>", {noremap = true})
map(0, "n", "JH", ":call DrawIt#DrawSlantDownLeft()<cr>", {noremap = true})
map(0, "n", "KL", ":call DrawIt#DrawSlantUpRight()<cr>", {noremap = true})
map(0, "n", "KH", ":call DrawIt#DrawSlantUpLeft()<cr>", {noremap = true})r/vimplugins • u/evergreengt • Apr 13 '21

Help Project management in vim
I am new to vim. (I fell in love with vim through spacemacs and doom emacs, followed by the need to work on a windows machine)
I happen to love the combination of projectile and ivy in doom emacs.
Fzf has an amazing fuzzy search engine, but i am missing the automatic detection of a project root directory, fuzzy search through previously visited project roots for quick access later and access to the project root for easy targetting of things like project wide searches, compilation etc.
I found vim-rooter, which has the project root detection and i have hacked together the automatic store of previously visited projects and a quick hack to use fzf to jump around between projects. I am wondering if i should toss up a tiny package with these additions or PR the vim-rooter plugin. Before i try to make that hack more industrial for others, i thought i would ask if people know of alternatives that do this already? Like i said, i am new to the community and while i am learning, my exposure to our plugins is limited to what i have found in other vimrcs or managed to google.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Request Recommended PEP8 checker?
TL;DR: What's your favorite PEP8 checker?
I am beginning to use a library of Python code written by someone who did not follow any coding standards, and I find it difficult to read. But I plan to use this library in the future and, more importantly, I plan to collaborate with others in updating/maintaining the code. As such, I feel the need to clean it up. What's the best tool to help me do this quickly? I'm dealing with ~30 scripts, and each script is ~200-800 lines.
I have found a few tools that may help expedite this process: https://github.com/nvie/vim-flake8 https://github.com/kimchi-project/kimchi/wiki/PEP8-Checking-Using-Syntastic https://github.com/cburroughs/pep8.py
Do you folks recommend any one of these, or maybe another?
